John Facenda. And that music.

^^This!

Many great memories in this thread, but John Facenda narrating NFL Films transcends them all for me. His voice made football, for me, the greatest sport in the world.

I was crestfallen when word of his passing was announced. Part of the magic of football from that era died with him.

I miss those cheesy one dimensional helmets from the early eighties when they'd show scores from around the league on the CBS post game show. And it was always great when the 4pm game ended and they would take you to the last couple minutes of a close game. It always felt like Christmas when that live look in was a Cowboys game.

for example I really miss bermans fastest three Minutes. I fondly remember watching the highlights with the epic music and the drama they'd build(Bc back then you really don't know all the results already)with the "tiiick tick- tick- tick - tick- tick -tick

And the old fox graphic and music with summeral and maddens voices is just football to me
It was January sixteenth 1972. I was skiing in riodoso New Mexico and stopped at the restaurant at the top of the chair lift. I got to watch our Dallas Cowboys beat the dolphins 24-3. There were a lot of Cowboy fans watching there in that restaurant. That was our first super bowl win. Go Cowboys

NFL Primetime with Chris Berman and Tom Jackson.

This was as fun as watching the games itself.

They knew how to throw in the perfect amount of highlights to tell the story of the game, Berman was sharp and didn't have an over-inflated ego. It wasn't about fanboys and misleading journalism. It was a celebration of the game and the focus was the game. Berman became a star because he got the rub from the show instead of Berman (or any announcer) trying to get themselves over at the expense of the show.

I still remember all of the songs they played as well.

Well, that one led me to this one, where Madden compares Garrett to Haley, at the 1:25 mark.

I actually remember laughing at that. Put the ol' fashioned 'x' on him, and these guys like this guy right here, Charles Haley....'nope'.

I really miss Monday Night Football from the early 90's. The intro would get me so pumped up for the game. The music, the helmets smashing together. Al Michaels and Frank Gifford. Loved it. Just not the same anymore.

Great little intro...........still remember the catch by Irvin on thanksgiving against Dale Carter.
