Wasn't Cox injured?

Yeah I think this is probably the biggest reason he isn't seeing more defensive snaps.. He tore his ACL.. It's fairly widely known that most players don't get back to their pre-injury selves until the second year after that surgery. The first year is really pretty much about recovery. We've all seen a few exceptions but a couple of freaks like AP does nothing to change what is the norm. Cox probably will not be back to normal until this time next year. Neither will Michael Gallup for that matter.

For someone that's supposed to be a ' project,' per draft time the Cowboys supposedly had a 2nd round grade on Jabril Cox, ..that doesn't sound like a project pick.
They may have had a 2nd round grade on him, but they certainly didn't pick him in the 2nd round nor did any other team. He went in the 4th, and if the Cowboys or any other team thought he was a plug and play future probowl LB they or someone would have traded up when started to slip.

Logistics and analytics.

Well the defense seems to be working fine without him, so he will eventually get his opportunities.
After all it took the team 5 years to realize Noah Brown can actually play and contribute.
They knew Brown could play the whole time. Just like they know the other receivers on the current team can play too.

Nothing is holding him back. They can only play 11 at a time and they are loaded with players that can play.

Who you taking off the field though? Passing downs is where LVE has really thrived this year. Barr only got 24 snaps against philly. Dallas seems to be doing either and extra pass rusher or an extra safety over keeping Barr on the field.
Absolutely would get him some snaps over LVE on obvious passing downs. Plus Barr has been in coverage a decent amount this year also. Neither has half the speed of Cox and I disagree LVE has "really thrived this year" in coverage> LVE has been pretty good this year IMO, but that's overstating his ability in coverage IMO

Cox was a 4th rd pick who has had some injuries and trying to work his way on to the field, as is the case with a lot of players it takes time. We are not talking 1st rd or 2nd rd pick. Kid was drafted last year show some patients

and to the fact that Quinn uses packages that has Wilson or Kearse playing LB, we use a lot of different packages. I expect Cox to keep working and keep pushing.

In 6 games he has given up 11 catches for 63 yards. I'm just not sure how much of an improvement you get out of Cox being in there. He's done an excellent job running with TEs up the seem and not had much of an issue keeping up with backs running routes either. LVE has been pretty bland in the run game, but yea Ill argue that he has been one of the better coverage LBs in the league this year. IDK man it seems like we are trying to fix a problem we dont have in order to get a player on the field that we have high hopes for, but no idea if he can actually play or not.

And his development was set back a year by his injury. I think Dallas signed Barr because Quinn didn't feel Cox was ready for a bigger role yet. Barr's role as a pass rusher/coverage linebacker is essentially the one Cox was going to play. The decision might be different if Cox had not suffered an ACL tear and the team had been able to see more of him before this preseason. On top of that, a lot of players aren't really back to normal after such an injury until their second season back.

I think fans are asking more of him than the Cowboys want to right now. It doesn't mean that he isn't going to turn into a contributor (other than special teams), but simply that Dallas could be taking its time to make sure he can thrive in that role. It's going to be like fans wanting Damone Clark out on the field immediately in place of LVE (whom many have decided isn't good). That's not likely to happen this year both because Clark is coming off injury and because he also has some things to learn about playing on this level.
I would agree. Barr has a couple of different tools he brings as well, he is used a good bit for blitzing as well so he has to be accounted for, for 2 things on the field.
