Man I love that guy.

(in a manly way):wink3:

*sarcasm on*

Apparently, the Dallas Cowboys didn't have a team before 1990.

*sarcasm off*

I apologize. I completely missed the Emmitt Smith qualifier on the thread title. MADP is gonna come looking for me.

Now, as punishment, I'll probably be forced to listen to Roseann Barr singing "Hail to the Commanders".
Oh, the horror!

Anyway, Emmitt was the most amazing RB I've ever seen. He had so many great plays. The 75 yard run against the 'Skins on MNF, which Al Michaels attributed to "some pretty poor tackling by the Commanders", was just spectacular.

1) 10-15 TD run to finish the Cowboys first possesion on the second half of Superbowl XXVIII. It sucked the life out of the Bills and all the bitter Eagle fans watching the game at the bar with me and two good friends (also boys fans). At that point my friends and I stood up on are bar stools and let all the miserable eagle fans that it was TIME TO GO HOME NOW nothing left for you to hope for! Then we waved and sugggested they all have carnal relations with themselves! true story

2) 1993 Championship Game at S.F. - Emmitt takes a screen for about 18 yards and a TD. Not a great play, but at that moment it hit me that we might just win this freaking game and actually make it back to the Superbowl.

3) The 5 or 6 runs on a key 4th quarter drive against the Eagles in 1992. We were starting to dominate them for all to see. The drive ended with an Aikman to Moose TD, but it was Emmitt's drive.

not a particular play, but the game against the giants where he separated his shoulder.

reeves was still coaching NY.

awesome game for emmitt

;) jerk you stole mine

Against the Raiders in 92'.

At the goal line a blitzing LB dove headfirst into Emmitt....He bounced off him, Emmitt took a little step back, then scored.

I also remember the second Eagle game in 1992. I remember the "E" off the back of Emmitt's jersey was ripped off. Madden said, "You know you've had a good day when you start the game as E. Smith, and end it as just Smith."

The game you're thinking of was against the Vikings. Emmitt wanted to break the single game rushing record that day. I can't remember exactly, but it was some kind of anniversary of Walter Payton.

That was the day Walter Payton died.

The first game on the season I think 1995 after we won the Super bowl and on a play action fake, Emmitt dove over the top and almost broke his neck. I was scared we had lost our RB, I think it was against the Bears...........

That was the seaon opener of the 1996 season on Monday Night Football, the first of the 2 years where Emmitt basically played on one good leg.

Ahhh, I remember that one... a great comment by Madden. Kind of gives me chills thinking about how good we had it for so long while he was here. Keep it up guys.

The Atlanta game in '94 or '95 where Emmitt almost gets tackled and spins out and goes for the touchdown. It was the most impressive athletic move he ever made IMHO.

During Emmitt’s rookie season, against the Rams, there was a play when he was running between the tackles and a defensive lineman was on the ground in front of him. Emmitt took off from one foot (his right, I think), jumped over the guy on the ground, took a fake step in the air with his other foot, landed on the same foot he jumped with and immediately cut 90 degrees in the other direction to juke a tackler, then kept going for a big gain. Two steps and a great juke move without his left foot even touching the ground.

That’s when I knew he was special.

we need video of that run

AND

the one vs the colts i believe where he was running in open space and up up to 2 players converging at the same time.

E took a step between them made them collide and spun out at the same time!

WOW!
