I don't see why so many people are down on Stanback....the guy is a converted QB, who had a late start to TC and was a fourth round pick. What are you expecting Marvin Harrison? Give him some time....I suspect we'll know more about him next year.

Apparently, he failed a drug test for HGH. :(

What the hell are you talking about?

As far as Stanback goes, I don't feel he'll ever be a number 1, but I hope he will be an above average #2. I've seen tape of him, and he definitely has moves, but a WR can't make moves unless he can get separation and make catches. I'm also under the belief that most QB to WR conversions take time, and I'm talking closer to 3 years than 1, and most end up either failing outright or becoming inconsistent WR's.

Reason has no place in a disagreement with eduncan.

He gripes that we picked Stanback way too early and then chooses to post a screenshot of a draft profile that lists him as a 4th-5th round pick... even when they think he runs a 4.6 40. :laugh2:

Where would have that draft site thought he should be drafted if they knew he really ran a 4.4 40? Mybe the second round?

Nice choice to post there e-dun.

I read an article somewhere that Carpenter, Stanback, Canty and Spears are working for bang-busts.com

Well, Romosapien, there were people saying similar things about Romo a few years ago.

Can you post a link to this 4.4 time?

It would really help settle this 40 time issue.
I am having flashbacks to Randall Williams forty time debates of a few years ago.
Nothing like debating the last wr on the depth chart forty times.....good times!

Newman has run a 10.20 and a 6.62, both in competition.

No NFL player has ever run a faster 60-meter time in a meet.

Reeves ran a 6.74.

Compared to Newman:

100-meter dash: 10.22 seconds (personal best, not in competition. I think)
60-meter dash: 6.67 seconds

40 yard: 4.06 (add start)

so from those numbers we can infer that since Newman 40 yard dash at the combine was 4.3 (see below) - there is a 6% adjustment in forty time when including the start.

Monday was the last day of the combine and the day for a young man from Kansas State to distance himself even further from the defensive backs that worked out. Terrence Newman came in as the top prospect and could have probably skipped his workout as over 30% of the prospects in Indianapolis this week chose not to run the 40. But why leave it to chance when you're as talented as Newman is. Two 40 yard run times around 4.3, a 41 inch vertical ump and an 11'4" broad jump... fantastic numbers. Already being touted as a top 5 pick, Newman may have done just enough to justify Cincinnatti choosing him with the top pick if they can't deal the pick to the Bears.

so factoring the above in....we would get a true 40 yard time by Stanback as 4.388 (forty time without start 4.140 X .06 = 4.388). That is probably why Stanback knows he can run a faster 40 time than 4.58 stated previously.

He's probably in the 4.4 range and at his size, that's pretty fast.

Looks like Yakuza Rick was very close in his estimate.
