What's the story with Church and Wilcox?

We keep bringing in corners etc yet we haven't heard a thing about Safety. Yes the draft isn't here, and we have NO clue what they want to do with Jones. Are they satisfied with these two or what? Is it feasible to cut bait cap wise? Just curious the boards feelings.

We're playing Jones at S, and then splitting reps. Church is the best of the remaining group (and a better player generally than people here seem to think, albeit limited). Wilcox is in danger of sliding off the roster or losing more snaps to Heath, even if we don't upgrade the position group.

We need to add another S to the roster, though, as both Church and Wilcox are likely gone next season.

Wilcox has the speed to be a FS but lacks the coverage skills. Moreover, he overruns and takes poor angles on too many runs. What's worse, is it seems like Wilcox is making a business decision by taking these poor angles. A guy his size and speed should not be overrunning players.

Wilcox can make plays when the ball's in front of him. He struggles otherwise. I had high hopes for him developing, but last season really put a damper on that for me. He started losing reps as the year went on. Both to Heath and Jones.

Wilcox has issues overrunning things and taking bad angles particularly with the fastest players the NFL has to offer. It's not unreasonable that he works on his timing and adjusts to the speed of the game. This year is make or break for him.

Seems they've made it pretty clear they are moving jones to safety
So with that Wilcox, church and Heath can fight it out for playing time at other spot

Haven't you heard because of Carr's bad play, it is because of our lack of a pass rush. Some poster here thinks we only focus on Carr's salary and his play has been fine. He just needs a pass rush. So I'm guessing we can say the same about Church and Wilcox, their play is 'fine' but with a pass rush, we wouldn't notice how bad they are.

No over reaction here. Just curious. The Safety position has been dead all offseason.

Maybe that's where Ramsey comes in?

I soured some as well. He has the athleticism but he's still learning to play the position. This is why I've asked for big school guys who have experience playing the position and some production to match the athleticism.

There's nothing wrong with trying to develop small college players but a sizeable portion aren't going to be able to be coached up. I'm ok with late round and UDFAs but not spending more precious assets.

Wilcox made some plays in 2014. He was horrible this season and in the playoff at GB, so the fact he did make positive contributions in '14 will be lost around here.

Here's to hoping we grab the best player in the draft in Ramsey.

Suddenly safety goes from question mark to potential for great strength.

I still think you can line both Jones and Ramsey next to each other.

Both players have enough versatility to their game to form a beautiful partnership.
