Seems they've made it pretty clear they are moving jones to safety
So with that Wilcox, church and Heath can fight it out for playing time at other spot

We keep bringing in corners etc yet we haven't heard a thing about Safety. Yes the draft isn't here, and we have NO clue what they want to do with Jones. Are they satisfied with these two or what? Is it feasible to cut bait cap wise? Just curious the boards feelings.

We did look at Weddle, but I don't think the idea there was to replace Church because I think the team likes Church far more than a lot of fans seem to. That does not mean he isn't replaceable, just that Dallas doesn't see that as a priority, and I agree with them if that's the case.

Right now, I believe the plan is to start Church and Jones at safety because Wilcox has never proven to be the free safety we've needed. If Dallas had gotten Weddle, I believe the Cowboys would have started Weddle and Church at free safety and moved Jones to corner (allowing them to cut Carr).

If Dallas ends up drafting Ramsey, then I believe either Ramsey or Jones will play free safety while the other plays corner (allowing Dallas to cut Carr).

As I've said, though, I do not understand why there is so much animosity toward Church. He's far from perfect, but he's still a pretty good starting safety.

I think that may be answered IF Ramsey falls to us.

Both are bad playing the FS role, but it seems to me that when Wilcox is all by himself and the action is coming to him, he gets too nervous or wait for the help to come so he can make a play.

I always look at the Adams non juke for the TD in the playoffs and I wonder if there was another Cowboy on that same side that Adams ran for the TD, he would of been more aggressive.

So Wilcox to me is bad in space, but I wonder if he can actually plays just as good or better than Church when he is closer to the LOS.

I think Jones is a lock at FS. They made a push for Weddle and he would have been a great fit, but losing out on him means they will take Safety in the 2nd or 3rd round and think hard about cutting Church for the 5MM savings if the draft pick is capable of starting.

Just one more thing I will never understand about our team. It's like they don't see how others play that position in the league. Where our fans see it every Sunday and tell Church is very average at best.

Why do people think Wilcox is fast? He ran a 4.57. That is average to slowish for a FS. Perfectly fine for SS. Wilcox and Church should battle for the starting SS position. Wilcox at FS was a failure, time to move on. He's shown he can change games with his hitting, i.e. smashing OBJ early in week 1 last season and completely taking him out of the game the rest of the way. Maybe if he's doing a lot less thinking and being more in the box, he can be salvaged into a decent player for us.

I think they also worked out a kid from Boston College...think last name was Simmons.

That'd be Justin Simmons. He's possibly around a third round prospect. He has good size at 6-2 and 5/8ths, 198 libs. He has had experience at corner, which has helped him in coverage as a safety. His run coverage is solid, as well as his coverage. Some have him rated above Killebrew, contending that Killebrew is actually closer to a 4th round prospect. Both of them have definitely attracted the Cowboys' interest, though.

Those two are pretty bad but Jones makes me feel a little better. I wish they could find somebody to play next to him. And there are a bunch of teams in the same boat as the Cowboys at safety. The entire league is filled with some very sad safety play. The one that I see get embarrassed way too much is Conte. I think he might be on Tampa Bay now. I cannot believe he's still getting paid. He is atrocious. He might actually be worse then Wilcox
