I don't think we're a year away. I think we're half a year away. I think we'll start to show a big improvement in the last third of the season.

If we get lucky and make the playoffs I think we can make some noise while we're there. :D
I hope u are right, however from the way things going it might take us 2 years. play calling by itself might not be the problem but sure it can make a diffrence

yep thats me Nors...still waiting to see something from Parcells here that indicates he is hall of fame worthy, or worth anywhere near the 18 million Jones gave him

maybe this will be the week he actually gets this team to play with some emotion, instead of the zombie like efforts that we've seen for the majority of his tenure

David

There is no Zombie in this team - are you kidding me?

Same team that rallied late in the 4th to beat Chargers on road?

Same team that scored twice in 4th quarter to beat 49ers on the road?

Same team that beat the crap out of undefeated Skins for 55 minutes?

Same team that rallied hard in 4th and stalled on a final drive inside Raiders 5?

Zombie team? You see what you want - cuz I see a young team that is growing and a team that has a lot of fight in it. This season is far from over.
Parcells has tremedously upgraded this roster.

Have a great day David aka glooms

M54, no disrespect intended, so don't get me wrong. But ejthedj is right -- but I think you may have missed his gist (his point). Oh I suppose you can hate any team you like, that's not what I'm saying; and while I could be wrong, I believe ejthedj is saying something different ... He's on fire about another opportunity to WIN!

Here's a question that may bring my point home ...would a loss to a team you like be any better than a loss to a team you hate? It shouldn't!

Here's what I got out of ejthedj's thread ...

Be on fire! Don't worry about last week because you can't change last week's outcome -- but you damn sure can influence the outcome of this week's game!

Here's just a little flavor of what's going on over on the Eagles board ..."We're going crazy, and we can't wait to taste blood! We want this ...we want it all, and we want it NOWWWWW!" And that was from the Eagles ball boy!;)

So I like ejthedj's attitude -- he's a warrior!

Basic football 101

Its hard not to like PT even if he is a eagles fan. He is probally one of the better posters on this site. Not to mention he is one of the few non trolls that like other teams. All that to say, his analysis is pretty much right.

One thing I would like to point out though is that this team has no fire. They need someone like a Ray Lewis to fire them up.

With this board... It's Eagles week and it's dead!!! We lost last week and now everyone goes into hiding? I don't care if we are 1-14, if we are playing the Eagles I am pumped!!! I hate them so much and their fans. If we lose, I may be more disappointed but I DON"T CARE! I have to hate the Eagles! It's in my blood...

Where's the love? I hope the team isn't this nonchalant in practice... We need to go for the throat.

Its quite simple really...not that many of us here including myself see us winning this game with the way the D is giving up the long ball and our offense playing conservative. There is absolutely nothing out of these last 3 games to give me hope for this game or frankly speaking the season. Another year of talking about the draft when we arent even half way thru the season. Very depressing.

For me - this team is EXACTLY where I thought they'd be. I felt all along we'd be in dogfights all year and I maintain that thinking now.

The Eagles game will be a close hard fought game, win or lose.

It'll be a rare occasion when we get blown out, or blow out, another team.

Get use to it.

You and me both. I got killed for saying that we should have done more on the offensive line, and now look, we can't run the ball to protect Bledsoe. Bledsoe is getting plenty of time to throw, yet he still misses open receivers in critical situations. I also criticized his defensive additions, and cover the deep ball and can't rush the passer. And there are many more things they missed such as not having a backup qb, wasting a draft pick on Barber who has no speed and no moves. My expectations for this team was 8-8 or worse and we're well on our way.

My problem is that I have only been able to see the Commanders game this year because I'm up here in NY. :bang2:
So, I can't get a feel for anything going on except for that game. I did see some good defense for 95% of that game, but an uninspired offense that was way too conservative. From what I'm hearing on the board, it seems like we are all waiting for a breakout from the rookies to happen. So far that hasn't happen. I think this board would be happy if we were losing, but our rookies were making weekly progress. So far, it seems like only Canty is showing more and more each week. Am I wrong?
Plus it seems like people are placing the blame on our coordinators and Parcells for lousy play calling. At least we are playing the rookies. I for one don't expect to see much more out of the rookies till next season. They need more strength to compete at this level. Once they get that, I think we will see the difference that these guys can make. Until then, I think we'll only see flashes.

Part of me wants to think the team is going to surprise some people. How can you not rally around a crummy performance like last week? If the team doesn't come out on fire, then I'm worried Parcells is starting to lose them. I'm worried about our linebackers and Westbrook going crazy with McNabb. But I guess the biggest worry is I don't expect the offense to do much if they were held in check by the Raiders. Hell, if you can't move the ball against the Raiders, how are you ever going to score against the Eagles? :(

No offense, but have you seen a crummy performance? I wasn't satisfied, but after living through Dave Campo, that was a good game. Heck I could name a handful of games that just made me nauseous, and this one didn't come close. When I think crummy performance, I think of last years Bengals game. The Thanksgiving game in 2003 vs the Dolphins, the season opener vs the Texans in 2002. The loss to 1-14 Detroit in 2001! You sir have no idea what a crummy performance looks like.

Phoenix-Talon you are right on!!! it's another week - stop moping and start getting ready to kick some a**.

Dbair and Scott Case have to be two of the worst posters on here -- They are always negative win or lose. Hey guys, get a clue!! It's the NFL -- parity is the rule. Anyone can beat anyone. 2-2 after 3 road games ain't the end of the world... I want some Eagle Stew!

Well, you sound like one of the younger generations of fans who think the Campo years are business as usual and assume everything better is glorious revival. ;) But believe it or not, it's hard to accept a loss when your offensive line completely collapses, your Hall of Fame coach makes some bizarre decisions, your quarterback ignores his best receiving threat (Witten), your start young running back still can't get any yardage, your defense still has holes, and worst of all, you can't beat a team that keep penalizing itself every few minutes, losing yardage or giving your team yardage, and just wants to give ya the damn game. Oh.... did I mention the Cowboys had a chance to win it all with a 2nd and 2 on the Oakland 3 with 2 minutes to go? ~~sigh~~

I think the important thing to realize too is a lot of those teams you mentioned had to chance at all. With some nice drafting and free agent signings, we finally have started to build some talent in this joint since the 90's Dynasty days. A lot of fans were hoping this would be the year the Cowboys started remember their legacy.

You're right, I started watching the 'Boys consistently in 99 and it's only gotten worse. However, I think some of you old guys have gotten jaded with all the success. "If it's not another Superbowl, don't bother waking me up!" I've had to live through some of the most depressing years in Dallas Cowboys history and I can see the difference between a loss, and the kind of performance that just makes you think you've decided to watch the wrong sport.

No one is saying Super Bowl or bust, we'd just like another winning season. The late 80's were even worse than this period, so don't accuse the older fans of being bandwagoneers.
