I like the original better as well, but I appreciate good covers as wellAlmost gave up on the video starting, but I waited it out. I find the original to be much better.
I liked the original song as a kid even though it was before my time because my grandfather liked it.A song that was itching for an update, and got a really good one!
For example, nothing will be better than the original KISS version, but I do like this one ..Sometimes the only way to cover a song is to make it more unique to the cover singer.
I think that the only cover I've ever heard. I loved the original as a kid, though I liked it more when I wasn't watching Ford sing it. The snapping thing takes away from the performance, IMO.I liked the original song as a kid even though it was before my time because my grandfather liked it.
I've heard other people cover it and they were not bad but just didn't carry it the same way Ernie Ford did.
It's the same for me with Johnny Cash covers.

Never did I expect to hear a cover of that song by ZZ Top that I would like.![]()

I was the first to post the Disturbed video on this site back when it released. That is a great cover! ..I went into that expecting to like it more than the original, but no, the original is definitely better. (Not a big fan of Kiss)
My favorite covers are Disturbed: The Sound of Silence, Jimi Hendrix: All Along the Watchtower , and Led Zeppelin: When the Levee Breaks (Originally an old blues tune about the Great Mississippi Flood)
Take this cover for example .. I never liked the song, "You Are My Sunshine" growing up because people always made it sound like a "happy" song when it is not.I went into that expecting to like it more than the original, but no, the original is definitely better. (Not a big fan of Kiss)
