Just last week there was an article saying he could make the jump to All Pro level.

The guy had a better rookie season than Warren Sapp.

But those that spout off without knowing what they're talking about are blissfully unaware.

"Could"?

Ok I'm sold

Maybe you should take a look at what the guy did do?

Despite missing just about all of training camp, he took the 3-technique job and excelled in it. Having a better rookie year in that spot than 1st round pick and Hall of Famer Warren Sapp did in his.

There are guys to be questioning, but Maliek Collins isn't one of em.

At first I was leery about hearing Taco might end up at DT, but the more I think about it, I love it. Taco and Collins at the DT spot, DLaw at LD, and then HOPEFULLY Tapper can come back and flash his athleticism at RE. It's very optimistic, but I think at the end of the day that may be our most talented pass rushing unit.

Also, that's not even taking into account Crawford as a rotational guy

I think our DL is a bit underrated; lots of young guys with physical skills and a lot to prove.. let's see who steps up

I'm with you on this.. I think our DL is tad under appreciated also. Our defense ranked 13th with 36 sacks. That's a far cry from being horrible. Our defense ranked tied for 27th with 9 INTs. And the FO made some serious changes to the secondary accordingly.
Our overall 14th ranked defense has plenty of room for improvement, but it's not fair to portray them as the worst. This is a young DL that's just starting to realize thier potential. The Young guns like Taco, Collins, Irving, & Tapper.. are similar to veterans like Mayowa, Lawrence, Crawford, & Moore... their all young, hungry, and still have a lot to prove.

In my perfect world and all playing at thier individual potential, I'd like to see the DL as follows:

Lawrence-Collins-Taco-Tapper
Mayowa-Crawford-Irving-Moore

Our best look is that we can run out 8 or 9 guys at people...rotate, rotate, rotate. If these guys play their hardest (give full effort and not try to save themselves for the next down) and we keep throwing fresh pass rushers, it could work. We don't have elite D Linemen but there is some depth there. Damontre Moore and Benson Mayowa as the backside edge guys, Collins at 3Tech, Thornton and Paea at 1Tech, Taco at anchor, with Irving and Crawford lining up all over the place. A healthy Tapper gives us 9 guys to throw at teams.

If this year's group doesn't produce, they should let Lawrence and Paea walk and then move on from Tyrone Crawford's huge contract and maybe Cedric Thornton as well. Be aggressive in free agency and hope like hell David Irving and Randy Gregory can stay on the field. Those 2, plus Maliek Collins and Taco Charlton give me hope, but the FO has to go out and find a proven menace to play with them.
