At what point do Cowboys forgive the Joneses for their 28 year drought?

To be honest, even getting getting a divisional round win and advancing to the NFC championship wouldn't be enough.

They would have to win the NFC Championship and get to the Super Bowl - then I could forgive all, even if they lose the Super Bowl.

They would have to win the NFC Championship and get to the Super Bowl - then I could forgive all, even if they lose the Super Bowl.

I've actually thought about this one day when I was working. If some changes were made off the field then that would go a long way to forgiving the Jones. The specific things I'm thinking is :
1. Culture change, meaning no more babysitting the players and trying to be their friends. Accountability for the players and no enabling.
2. Hire a HC and let the head coach pick his staff. I'm cool with Jerry having the title of GM but let the coach pick the groceries and his staff.
3. Show some flexibility when it comes to FA. Yes building through the draft is good but FA can be useful as well.
4. Stop broadcasting our moves before we make them. So stop telling the world we're cutting Cooper before we try and trade him.

Basically 1 and 2 are the main ones. If Jerry did that then we would be a competitive team again because we have talent on both sides of the ball but the culture is crap and there is no urgency to win games. So for me forgiveness would come if the Jones mafia put winning above their egos and marketing. I don't want to say a Super Bowl or other on the field success because on the field success is not completely in the Jones' control, but changing the culture and letting the coaches coach is. If I saw that then I'd forgive them.

Jimmy quit on us, he won because Jerry paid the bills.....

and Jimmy did not hire himself. funny part is Jerry took heat for hiring a college coach as well when he hired Jimmy. Jerry has managed to catch hell since he bought the team.

It’s rare that any franchise sustains the success the way we did in 1 decade let alone 2.
Jerry has been unable to adjust in salary cap era for sure but who has?
If you scroll through most wins since 96 the cowboys despite 26 years so futility still rank in top ten (6 I think)
I get it we have a lot of super bowl or bust fans but there are teams who hasn’t sniffed a SB
We had it good! Now I’d love a SB berth but I’m just gonna enjoy the ride. I’ll blame Jones because that where the most consistent issue is but I’m not going to act like our franchise is anymore deserving than others

Sure, I would love to see them in the SB. Who wouldn't? At the end of the day, the NFL (like every other professional sport) is entertainment.

Nice to see a few honest Cowboys fans. But some of the responses are just.....WOW! Like some people taking it personal to the point of feeling like their whole life was ruined because of Jerry Jones. Then the fans who can't figure out the topic of the thread and go off on rants about something completely irrelevant. This is where I get jealous of Canadian sports websites where you'll get immediately banished to the phantom zone for getting out of line. Not saying we should go to that extreme, but how about a visit from a Mountie with a cattle prod?

exactly ! no forgiving lol, they are decade+ past that.
Add to that jerry didnt put jimmy in ROH back in 2010 and still hasnt, no forgiving on that either.

And I dont see them winning any SB's anytime soon.

I don't think forgiveness is part of the equation, it only works if one party feels sorrow and seeks to be forgiven. As the seasons pass I just hope for the best while the team falls short and the Joneses get richer. It seems to be a love-hate relationship

that is a good point, the jones boys dont want forgiveness lol, they think they have done a great job ! it was the players and coaches who let them down.
