When are you too old to wear your jersey?

I am 44, I wear a jersey every Sunday for game day and we all wear one at work on Fridays during football season. Always a Cowboy jersey!:starspin

I guess Morton Anderson and Vinny Testaverde can wear the pads but no Jerseys.

:lmao2:

I call this one at 4:39 Eastern.

Game - Set - Match.

I have never worn a jersey. Comes off too much like a person who wishes he was playing but is too old, too overweight and drinks too much.

So people who wish they were playing but are old, overweight, and drink can only be found because they wear jerseys? Weird

I take issue with that, now where the hell did I put my beer. :laugh2:

In the classic movie PCU, Jeremy Piven‘s character Droz rightly declared, “What's this? You're wearing the shirt of the band you're going to see? Don't be that guy.”

Indeed.

Wear your Jesey in public. I am 35 years old and was listening to some radio show and they said there is a 35 year old rule. That at 35 a grown man should not wear a jersey in public.

For the record I am a die hard fan and will wear my Jersey in Public on Gamedays only...

Opinions...?
I think if you own the jersey and enjoy wearing it that you shouldn't worry about how old you are or who will care.

Morten Anderson is nearing 50 and is still wearing his jersey every game day.

I don't care if you are 100 years old or older, if it makes you happy, wear it.

who made the rule......... a cardinal fan?:lmao2:

wear it as long as you like!

Probally because no one wants to be seen in public in one of those....That was good....:lmao2:

:D

Yeah, exactly who made this rule? The 5 guys in Queer Eye for the Straight Guy????
They wouldn't understand football, anyway.

Men of all ages can wear a football Jersey. I just read that in the Man Law Handbook. :laugh1:

I must be the poster child/man for this then.

I've never worn a jersey either. I have several caps. Several t-shirts too.

There is a line that all of us have to determine for ourselves.

At what point does the Cowboys gear become a costume?

If you had a pair of replica Dallas Cowboys football pants, would you wear them? ... to the game? ... to the grocery store?

How old is too old for wearing a replica Cowboys helmet?

... I'm not certain, but it is probably o.k. up to the same age when you can just get by going Trick or Treating.

But there is something to be said for doing the whole comedy costume thing when you go to the game -- face painted, outrageous football attire, signs, etc. Certainly a jersey to the game is o.k. A helmet to the game is o.k. Cowboys pants? Still not sure about that :)

I think of a jersey, particularly one with a player's name on it, as having costume overtones. 35 years old and up, best to safe yours for gameday. At least that's the line that I set for myself.

I don't look at this as a rule, just how you feel. Funny thing is I'm 37 and started feeling strange about wearing the jersey about 3-4 years ago.

I think the non game day jersey thing is for people under 30 and over 50.
I have Romo jersey's for my 4 and 7 year old boys. When I'm not working, they pretty much go everywhere with me. So I use them to fly the colors!

So I guess the real grown ups, the 30-50 year olds need to leave it to the kids. At least until they hit 50 and enter their second childhood.:)

Let me guess your the type of dad who puts his kids toys together on Christmas day as an excuse to play with the toys. :laugh2:

It's a ploy to conceal fatness. That's why you never see the over-40 fatties wearing a Kobe jersey.

I also gravitate to the "toys" I'm most interested in. Remote controlled airplane, train set, Madden 07!:laugh2: Wife handles the rest of the crap!

So everyone that wears a jersey is fat?

No, it's just a fringe benefit. Why don't the over-40 guys wear NBA jerseys? Because it's not flattering. Loose-fitting NFL jerseys present no such obstacle, and the rest of us have to suffer. Etiquette extends beyond the dinner table, you know.

This is kinda funny to me. Last weekend, I wore my Troy Aikman Jersey for the first time in probably 10 years. I don't know why I wore it. My son woke up on Saturday and said, "Lets wear Jerseys today." So, I did. Having said that, no less then 5 people through out the day commented on the Jersey. A women at Sam's Club passed by and said real low, "Go Cowboys". A guy in the Gas line said I like your style. The women working at the dump, of all places, said I like your Jersey. My 13 year old daughters little friends came over and both said they like the Jersey.

Now, seriously, I hardly ever wear Jerseys anymore. In fact, if I wear one, it's probably going to be my Earl Campbell UT throw back. I do that when UT has a big game. OU or a Bowl game, something like that. I'm not a young guy. I'm not very good looking and I am not in the shape I was when I was young so I know that the reason for these comments don't stem from any of those types of things. Being a fan is hard enough these days. I think that any enjoyment you can get out of being a fan is a welcome thing. If that's wearing a Jersey, then so be it. After all, I'm not in this for the press and noteriaty of being a Cowboy fan. That's not part of being a fan. Do what makes you gain enjoyment out of the whole process. If that means, dressing up and painting your face Blue and Silver, so be it. If it means wearing a uniform to the game, so be it. If it means something as simple as a ball cap, do that. Take whatever enjoyment you can get out of the process I say.
