Why don't we all put the answers to these type of questions in our profile, (when did you become a Cowboys fan, what does your user-name mean, who is your favorite Cowboy, what is your favorite game, what is your favorite play, ...etc ...etc ...) then we could limit these dumb threads.

I've got another idea..... read the subject line and if you don't like it.... move along....:D

It's the offseason and things are SLOW.... don't be so uptight!;)

And SP scores another one!! :laugh2:

As for the thread, I don't have a great story about when I became a fan. Just the way I grew up. Sundays were always about church and the Cowboys. Even the Minister would try to finish up the sermon a bit early, so we wouldn't miss the kickoff.

Dang! What chruch is that? My preacher ALWAYS goes long! I'm talking 12:25 and I live 25 minutes away!

I gave up religion because it interfered with the Cowboys on Sunday. :p:

sorry to hear that!;)

Don't be sorry. Texas Stadium is a church unto itself. Don't you know why there is a hole in the roof? Plus, staying at chuch past 12 noon is a waste of time, because god leaves so he can watch the Cowboys. So, in a sense, I'm spending 3 hours at church every Sunday. :) Or was until I moved here... :(

Born and raised proper to be a Cowboy fan but it really took when I got a Drew Pearson bike in the late 70's...:starspin

No way!!!

There was an actual Drew Pearson bike out there?

This is a long shot, but do you still have it? LOL

All my years of collecting Dallas Cowboys memorabilia, I have yet to see one.

Is he omni-present or does he just have a multi-core processor? :D

I’ve been a Dallas Cowboys Fan all of my life, but I became a TRUE BLUE DIEHARD FAN during their 1977 season and their run for the Super Bowl XII championship. I remember, as a kid, sitting in front of the TV every Sunday and watching the games with my Dad.

Me too

Simple enough story for me. I grew up/live in the DC area. One evening after watching them lose, my father yelled out "I HATE THE Commanders" at the end of a game. (NOTE: I now know that my dad is not a Commander fan and is a fair weather football fan; I still love him though :) ) I was about 5-6 yrs old at the time, I liked football and wanted someone to root for but by my father's comment I began a strong dislike for the Commanders. I knew the Cowboys were their primary rival and began paying more attention to them. This was around the same time that I started noticing paintings posted in the local Hardees showing the 'skins against the Cowboys. I loved that star!

I've been hooked ever since. From the late 70's Super Bowl runs, through "The Catch" (heartbreaking day for an 11 yr old), the lean years ('89 1-15 record but we beat the 'skins:D ), back to the Super Bowl in the 90's and now the re-arising of the star. Good times.

Eh.. I just go to the early service. Out by 9am and home early enough to cook and still catch all the pregame shows.

I know that I am jumping into this thread on page 7, but to the original poster, that collection is quite impressive. Mine is also a bit crazy - I have my home theatre room torn apart right now (I am just back from Home Depot to pick up the team colors paint). I will take a picture when it's done in a few weeks.

As for when I became a fan, I live in the Philly suburbs but grew up watching the Cowboys. They always seemed to be on at 4 o'clock EST and Roger Staubach really was America's quarterback. My father was a big Don Meredith fan, even though he liked the Eagles, he bought me a Cowboys outfit when I was 5. He regrets it to this day, but I have been a fan ever since. :)

One of my earlier childhood memories was receiving my first pair of cleats on my fourth birthday...they were signed by Staubach. My father had been friends of his while they were both at the Naval Academy. Those shoes cemented my loyalty to the Cowboys forever. Lost the damn cleats though. :banghead:
