It used to take me about three days to get over a loss, maybe until Friday if we were really creative and were able to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Now, when the season begins I am always optimistic something will be different than the last 17 years. Then as the season progresses reality sets in and I get to see Jerry Jones Sunday Football Follies on my Sony KDL55XBR8 in high def on the Sunday Ticket. It's such a great comedy show it only takes about 2 hours to move on...

Some great answers in here. Thanks ladies and gentlemen. I'll say this....this week's loss will be much easier for me to get over as I have anticipated this loss since I saw it on the schedule. And by the way, if Dallas loses this week 31-30 (I dont think it'll be that close, just sayin)...there is nothing to be happy about. But I am sure some will spin it as "they only lost by one point to maybe the best team in the league". But that doesnt cut it...as I am sure last week they werent saying " wow we are bad...we just lost by nine to a team that is average AT BEST".

LOL Haha that was good. Jerry is surely a first class businessman, but as an NFL GM, he is a first class loser.

As a good friend of mine says who is a big fan also.... These games have built up a lot of scar tissue.

That's the truth. But not just the games that are off-putting... I've become so put off by Jerry's selfish, classless and sometimes disingenuous ways...that I often wish I could get a divorce from the team. But it's not ever that easy because of longstanding loyalty and my care for particular players.

Now...my relationship w/the Cowboys....I'm like that guy 15 years into a marriage...present but half interested...ripe for an affair.

I love the board but the Cowboys have zero effect on my day. Win or lose. Maybe if I had money invested in a ticket it would but I don't.

I hate to say it but it has gotten to the point that I don't dread the losses as much as the talk form all the haters at work, on FB, etc. it's like everybody is waiting for the cowboys to fail to pounce.

It's the losses that bug me. I couldn't care less about the opinions of other people.

Late to this subject, but using this week as a gauge, it was today before I really kind of started getting a little excited about this weeks game.

Honestly, it varies from loss to loss. Sometimes I find myself getting ready by Tuesday or so. I'm not sure what the difference is, but some hit me harder than others.

The thing is, after a win, I watch just about every other game I can and read any news I can find and adjust my fantasy teams, pick-em leagues, etc... But after a loss, I don't really go online, read anything, watch any other football, watch any NFL Channel, or anything like that.

So a loss, really does effect my week quite a bit. I watch more movies with the wifey, read more non-football stuff, do more work around the house, and overall try to put football out of my mind for a while.

Weeks after a loss are just plain miserable and productive.

Ditto.

After a win, you're excited about the season and the possibilities. Even losses following a string of wins aren't bad. It the constant losing that kills interest.

I didn't say constant losing kills interest.

I am not losing interest in the Cowboys or football. It just takes me a little while before I can stomach it after a loss. Sometimes it takes longer than others.

But I always come back just as ready as I've ever been my Sunday.

I am usually a bit cranky a few hours after the game and then I pretty much am in a good mood. I do think about what they did wrong/right a few days after though.

I meant it kills "interest in football over the week".

It depends on the game. A game like this week against San Diego takes me a day or two before I am looking to next weeks game but there are others that I never get over. The game several years ago against Washington, for example, where we were going to kick the game winner, kick is blocked and we have a 15 yard face mask penalty allowing Washington to kick the game winner...I still bring that game up in conversations with friends and it ranks pretty high on my list of all time Cowboys nightmare games.

I am about 40 years into my "marriage" with the Cowboys; I wouldn't even consider the affair with another team - they are all white trash to me for the most part...every year, there is one or two REALLY pretty teams out there, but they get uglier at some point (the filthy little tramps); I'll stick with the marriage as it brings me happiness and that occasional excitement even after 40 years

Okay guys, this is a serious question.

After a loss, when have you fully recovered from it? Using myself as an example..
after this game...
I skipped dinner
shut off my cell phone
and have shut sat here miserable.

Tomorrow:
people know enough not to talk to me at all until I speak first.
wont eat breakfast or lunch.

And then by tomorrow evening, I will eat a good dinner and get ready for Monday Night Football and will become less agitated. Then, by Tuesday AM, things will be back to normal....accepting the fact that my football team is a .500 team.

How long will it take you to get over this loss?

I may avoid listening to sports talk radio and watchingNFL Network/ESPN for a day or 2...my excitement or optimism towards the Cowboys may suffer temporarily. But that's about it.

As far as feeling miserable, not eating, acting grumpy around family/friends - absolutely not. Take it for what it is, ultimately it's entertainment.
