Seriously question...
For the Dallas Cowboys when has giving a huge new contract ever worked out for us?
Beyond Deion Sanders 25 years ago I can’t really think of many...
I think the better question should be when has paying an average QB franchise QB money ever worked out?
I personally cannot think of any situation it works.
Goff, Wentz,Cousins, Jimmy G, Bradford, Flacco might be the closest to success although they had to pay him as he bet on himself and the Ravens could not treat him like they treated Dilfer 12 years earlier.
Signing free agents is a good thing as a matter of fact its really a great thing. The unfortunate stigma on FA I have noted on this site has been that... Why are these guys free agents? That is a very basic way of looking at things.
The question should be multi faceted, can this player help my team? Is he going to get better, is there a distressed asset scenario?
We all know Rodgers, Wilson don't hit Free agency or even available to trade unless it's a once in a generation situation.
Montana in 93 but he was much older, Manning in 2012 coming back from multiple neck injuries and the Colts getting Luck.
I mean Luck not panning out still tot his day shocks me.
I don't care about the amount of money Dak wants its the impact on the salary cap, just think when Dak was making 500K a year this team was not smart enough to add talent around him in FA, now when will be making 37 a year and don't fool yourself he will have a very high cap number. Remember Wentz & Goff signed extensions early and their new deals are just now kicking in. Why do you think it will require Philly to have a 50 million cap hit to move on from Wentz.. which is some small reason they chose to fire their HC. We will be stuck with Dak for the next 5 -6 years minimum.
He is not Wilson, Brees, Rodgers, Brady, Mahomes type.
