With another team? Reason I ask change of scenery is overrated. If you suck with the Raiders you gonna suck with the Cowboys. I.E. McFadden .

A change of scenery can be overrated, but it likely depends on why the player was cut. Some players are poor scheme fits, but that's really hard to determine until he gets into another scheme and it clicks. Some players are slow to adjust to the NFL. Some players are held back by injuries.

However, finding those players is a lot more difficult than finding the ones who just prove they are not NFL material.

I believe in what Bill Parcells said in picking up players who were first- or second-rounders, that someone once saw enough in them to draft them that early so why not take a look? But I also believe that you should be prepared for that look not to reveal hidden ability.

Although your example of McFadden doesn't exactly fit the scenario, I have no problem with Dallas giving him a shot to show the talent that got him drafted. My only problem was with Dallas not preparing for him to be exactly what he was in Oakland. You do not rely on such players until they prove reliable.

I'm not sure... but wasn't he and Eli swapped teams at draft time because Eli refused to go to San Diego?

Rivers and Eli.
And due to Rivers, Brees was traded to New Orleans.

Jimmy Smith played in a Super Bowl???

If he did, it was as a special teamer in 1992 for Dallas.
They also list him as a SB Champion for 1993 season, but he never played a single down that year due to his pre-season appendectomy and resulting infections.

Barbie Carpenter??
i

On October 2, 2011 he had six tackles, a pass deflected and made the play of the game, returning an interception for a touchdown, which sparked a second half come-from-behind victory against his former team, the Dallas Cowboys. The 24-point collapse was the largest blown lead in team history and eventually cost them a chance to qualify for the post-season

Still a part of the team and still got a ring.

I wouldn't say "destroyed". I think the point is that it's rare that it happens, which I agree with. I mean, some of the names we're pulling are from 20yrs ago.

It isn't that rare. Some just aren't that big of names. Like Marc Colombo someone who would probably only be known to Cowboys and Bears fans.

Eh, it's pretty rare. There are A LOT more who gets cut during their first contract never to find success with another team then players that do.
