When will we know something about these Cowboys?

I admit that I was pretty disgusted by these armchair losers who flooded this forum with their meaningless opinions about the Cowboys after one game. One game? Why can't these losers get a life?!

But whatever, I get it. Every fan forms an opinion at some point. For example, I would be really impressed if the Cowboys were to beat the Saints and the Ravens. But even then, I kind of want to wait and see until after the Niners game. By then, we should have a good sample size to begin making a judgment.

What say you, boy?
How about just wait until after the Superbowl.

Then you can make up your mind and make a well informed decision.

I swear we have the dumbest fanbase in all of sports

I've heard it said by the Thanksgiving game, you will know what kind of team this is.

since you posted this i’m sure you want my opinion. so i’ll give mine. i’ve been burned by this team doing great in season and fail in post season. so i’m going to reserve my judgement until january.

Relax, cupcake...no need to be extreme about it. Obviously it would be premature to judge the Cowboys after only one game, and it would also be silly to wait until the season is over to wait to judge them as well. For me personally after the Niners game will be a big enough sample size for me to see whether they are for real or not.
Can you handle that or are you going to stick with the other losers who want to hold onto the 28 year curse thing?
If you believe the Cowboys are cursed and nothing will change this year then why bother watching the Cowboys at all? If your answer is that you can't help yourself, then that makes you a loser. Got it?

I think that's fair as long as you believe that there is a possibility the Cowboys can advance in the playoffs. What's not Ok IMO are those who say the Cowboys are doomed to fail again then decide to watch Cowboys games anyway.

Playoffs. That’s really it.

The Cowboys can’t be trusted after last year.

A lot has lead to them not being trusted but last year took the cake.

I get the frustration over the losses. I was pissed for a week after the GB game.

Nonetheless, we finally have a DC that does well against Shanahan offenses in Zimmer and our front 7 looks improved.

I wish the conversation was 'what are we doing to get better against the 49ers' as opposed to lowbrow feigned certainty about playoff outcomes.
The last time I was really mad over a playoff loss was 2007. I think I was still mad about that loss on opening day 2008. To some extent, 2014 and 2016. But when we're not true contenders, the playoff losses don't bother me much.

I'll answer your question about what we are doing to get better than the 49ers. I don't think we're doing anything. Dallas just drafts and hope their drafted players get better to the point where they can beat the 49ers. Besides a few hiccups, they're doing very well in the draft.

good point, it looked great against the worst team we will play all year, but what about the teams with good to real good offenses.
What about good run teams?
Yes sir.

We’ll find out soon enough.

I think of judging a team this way: each game in a 17 game season is about 5.8% of the season. So after one game, we don’t really know that much yet that can be carried forward all year.

When you win the first game, especially on the road against what was projected to be a tough opponent, we all as fans get excited and project what we saw in 5.8% of the season to be exactly what to expect the rest of the season.

We have a long way to go to really understand this team.

I mean we all knew the Cowboys were a top team last year and then the playoffs happened. Thats when the real judgement starts.
I saw the crack in the foundation in weeks 3 and 5 last season. We all thought that the Cardinals running roughshod on our defense was an anomaly but then the Niners did the same thing 2 weeks after that.

It was indicative all the way to the Packers game where that wildcard team ran for almost 150 yards against us

The defense has to EARN the right to rush the passer aggressively by containg the run first

Yeah until the defense faces a team that REALLY wants to the run the ball and stops them (Baltimore, San Francisco) we are always going to have that in the back of our minds. I think if the Browns had Chubb it would have been a much more telling test. Without that monster the Browns were really no threat. Kamara and Williams will test us some today.. but not to the extent that the Ravens and 49ers will. We got a ways to go.. I try to just sit back and enjoy it! Not always easy to do.. but that's always the goal.

Good point Ronnie. And that’s something we Cowboys fans should keep in mind regarding our running game. It did ok (at best against a really good Browns D). But how will that running game stack up against a great D like SF or the ravens? Time will tell.

I think the punt return TD kinda knocked the offense out of rhythm. Remember the Browns got the ball to start the second half then the punt return happened so they got another possession which promptly turned into a 12 play 75 yard TD drive. By the time that was over the Cowboys offense had not been on the field for like 30-35 minutes. I don't think they ever got out of the starting blocks after that. Zeke had 8 carries for 35 yards and the TD in the first half but only 2 totes for 5 in the second. If they just give him the same number of carries in the second half I suspect he would have ended up somewhere in the 80-90 yard range with at least one big one after the defense tapped out. But McCarthy (smartly) let other people take the beating in the second half.

No one loves watching Zeke pound on a defense more than I but I fully understand the choice not to expose him for further damage in a game that was already won. I applaud the coaches for that even though it looked just okay when everybody else was running it except for the jet sweeps. It kind of reminded me of three years ago when he had like 7 games in which he had one or fewer carries in the 4th quarter because the Cowboys were blowing people out. I hope we get to see a lot of that this year!

The Saints front is decent but not as good as the Browns.. so there should be some opportunity to work the kinks out in the run game provided we don't get a sleepwalk game from our defense and end up playing from behind all day.

I would say we're going to find out today what they are made of since I turned on the NO game and the Boys are down 14-3. WOW and I thought the Cowboys were the ones who were going to get off to a FAST start.

..well, one thing for sure. They still problems with these type of speedy, shifty offenses.
