Good post....
We're very young....
Take a look at what's happened to us this year.
-The OG that's supposed to solidify our OL, goes down with a back injury the day after signing. (Rivera)
-The heir to the RT position, who is having a solid camp, mysteriously gets injured, then gets surgery without the consent of the staff. We cut him. (Rogers)
-Our second first-round pick misses most of TC with a sprained knee. (Spears)
-Our most seasoned LB basically misses the whole season. (Nguyen)
-Our best RB goes down with a high-ankle sprain during our best performance of the season. We were clicking on all cylinders this game. (JJ)
-Our Pro-Bowl LT goes down and misses most of the season. (Adams)
-Our number three WR, who happens to be having a very good season, misses six weeks. (Crayton)
-Our second-best LB is out for the rest of the season. (Singleton)
-Perhaps our best defensive player goes down after making an INT. Henry's never been the same.
We've played the season with three rookies, two first-year starters, and a LB that joined the team after preseason ended all playing major roles on our defense.
We're starting a rookie 6th round pick at RT, and an UDFA at LT that probably won't make the team next year.
Now, injuries are a part of the game. You deal with it and move on. But we've lost major contributors at crucial positions. LT, RB, and CB are three of the most important positions in football. Not many teams lose that many difference makers and compete for a playoff spot.
But somehow we have......We've competed well.
I think Parcells has done a good job considering all the crap he and the team have been through.
If BP leaves us next season, we'll be starting all over again with a new coach. We'll be set back another two or three years. Heck, we may even have another total change in philosophy......Imagine that.
BP can still coach. We've gone from a perinnial loser, to a team that can compete with any team in the NFL.
