One thing about Ryan he loves moving guys around trying to confuse the opposing QB, problem is he often gets his players confused on where they need to be lined up.
Apparently, the Browns.
LOL
this is a Cowboy message board who enjoy dancing on other teams graves even if it'd early ,shoot me
5th is 5th, 32nd is 32nd...
You are smarter than that oversimplification of things. Ryan's defense wasn't good in Dallas. Whatever the final ranking, they just weren't good and could not stop teams when it mattered.
Right now the Saints are 30th in defense. That doesn't tell the whole story or is a great predictor of what will happen the rest of the year. One game does not define the Dallas defense, either. I don't think Ryan is horrible, but I also have not seen anything over the years to say he is great, either. That 5th for the Saints last season was an illusion. There were a lot of factors that showed they truly weren't the 5th best defense in the league.
And yet they did not set franchise records in futility either. As bad as you want to make things under Ryan, they were infinitely worse last year, while he coached the Saints defense to a #5 ranking with spares from the prior 4-3 defense.
An 'illusion' to you perhaps, and those looking for each and every reason to excuse the defensive debacle in Dallas.
People can think whatever they want about Ryan personally, but he did what he did. He took spares and castoffs and crafted a top 5 defense while we suffered through the worst in franchise history.
It happened, and I'm not putting blinders on to pretend it didn't.
I hope the Dallas defense plays well this season and the team makes the playoffs, but I'm not into revisionist history trying to support it.
I've never said they weren't bad last year. I'm not blind to that or pretending it didn't happen nor have I tried to revise history. Why do you keep trying to insinuate that I did? The Dallas defense would have been no better with Rob Ryan as DC last season. Only blinders would keep someone from seeing that.
Because of your attempt to somehow minimize Ryan's factual accomplishments last year.
At least they would have had pieces to properly run the 3-4 scheme and not the round pegs they tried to fit into square holes.
People try to give Garrett and the staff a free pass based on injuries last year, but it's funny and hypocritical that Ryan didn't get the same mulligan when he had them.
If you want to invent imaginary scenarios where Ryan's unit would have set franchise records in futility like what actually happened?
You have fun with that.
Just don't expect anyone else to join you on that ride.
I don't use NFL rankings based solely on yards allowed as the be all end all to accomplishments. When you look at all the facts available, Ryan didn't have a top 5 defense last season with the Saints.
It doesn't matter if the defense would have set franchise records or not with Ryan as DC last year. Would it really make you feel better if they didn't quite set team records last year and only ranked 31st in defense? It doesn't make me feel better. They would have been bad with him. Bad enough not to make the playoffs. Those are the facts are mattered. I don't need to imagine scenarios that Ryan's defense was bad in Dallas because we already saw it in 2011 and 2012. Those are factual years and his defense was bad when it counted. That doesn't excuse the defensive performance of 2013 when he wasn't here and I've never said it does. They needed to make changes and they have and will continue to do so because it isn't a finished product. They also needed to move on from Ryan after 2012 and they did. Him still being here would not have changed anything. It would take a good imagination to think it would have.
Garrett should never be compared to Landry...even if is not really a comparison...if that makes sense lol
I read lips so here is what Payton was saying ..
"We look like last year's Dallas Cowboys out there! I just had a player call me Coach Garrett! I'm not Jason Garrett and you're not Rex Ryan!"
