First. I think the fact that the Jones family refusal to hire a GM and give total control over football decisions to the GM/Head Coach, is the problem.

Even, if that wasnt or isnt the entire problem; after losing for so many years, how can they sell us anymore? This season isnt new....its what we have been doing for the best part of 20 years. Two freaking decades! This isnt "New".

Were a laughing stock around the league. We arent taken seriously. Teams, LOVE to play against the Cowboys.....Fans love to see the Cowboys on their schedule.....Its a joke. Like how we make fun of the Browns or Raiders.

Jerry is like Al.....

Does JG get one more year? Heck why not...... What else are we going to try?

I will say this. Romo has been one of my favorite Cowboys all time. Have nothing bad to say about him. But I am kind of looking forward to his replacement.....becuase .....well, just becuase JJ,Garrett, Romo, whoeever whatever.....Its , for the most part, always the same show....

Im getting tired of this "show"

we know we're in for some pretty massive changes and a few weeks ago the thought of red gone and maybe payton coming back home was just a pipe dream. yea, i guess it still is. but it's the season of dreams and telling santa what we want.
I think Jones has reached his limit with Garrett. I believe he is a supporter of head coaching continuity as long as it's of the .500 or better variety. Wins have taken a nosedive by comparison to last season. 2015 may be Garrett's swan dive. Certainly, Jones has been yapping more than a chihuahua about the team's status and his thoughts of Garrett's ability during the past month or so. It wouldn't surprise me if Jones remains patient but his pulling the plug on the Garrett Era this season wouldn't surprise me either.

I wanted this coach to succeed, but he's lost me. Too set in his ways? too hamstrung by his boss? don't know and don't care. Talent and the common denominator the last 20 years is still the biggest obstacle to sustained success I think. That being said, not being able to do more than 1-8 with the backup QB is inexcusable and a good deal of that failure lies at the feet of the coaches and ultimately the head coach.

Sean Payton? Sure, if he's available.
David Shaw? Same scenario as Payton.
What about Todd Haley? Grating personality, had some success in KC, fell apart, got on everyone's nerves. Yes, he's got Big Dumb in Pgh, but I love his offense. Part of the reason the Rooney's fired Bruce Arians was that Ben turned 30 and had taken alot of shots in Arians deep passing game. Haley brought a quick passing game that limited Ben's taking a beating. His offense spreads the ball around, he doesn't neglect the run, and he always, always finds ways to get his best playmaker (Antonio Brown) the ball. Is that a hire Jerry can be "comfortable" with? Probably not.

Are they going to fire Red? almost 95% sure they don't. Where do we go now? It's a tough question with not many answers, until Jerry decides he wants to really change. The past 2 decades have shown that he really does not want to.

What I have noticed in the last few years, is that the playoff games are much more like "real" games imho. Cant really put my finger on it....But all the sloppiness sort of gets cleaned up in the playoffs.......................??

if i don't have time to continue to worry about the cowboys terrible on the field play, the desire to worry about conspiracies is even lower on my attention scale.

Realistically, firing Garrett may result in a worse HC or may be just a slight upgrade. Very doubtful it brings in a known commodity, especially one who can succeed in these conditions.

The GM and structure will not change, that is 100% fact. So, we have to keep heading South down the ladder to get to the next roadblock.....which is Garrett. I realize that may not solve any problems with this team, but it will help solve one major one..........a new offensive system.

The main reason I want Garrett gone is to bring in a new scheme if nothing else. That new scheme may or may not work, but I am sick of the Air Coryell.

If Jerry still wants to keep JG at the helm, at least throw us a bone and get a whole new offense(with a coordinator) this off-season. It will appease the masses quite a bit IMO.

Romo can learn and implement it easily I think. Witten may get left out in the cold if that occurs, need more speed from the TE most likely.

In this day and age, you need to be creative, scheme and evolve to win on a consistent basis or have an outstanding defense..........we have neither and not even close really.

My two cents................

After watching yesterday's action, I could see a half dozen coaches getting canned, could be slim pickings.

i'll be honest. i've been looking for a way to get that into a subject line that wasn't political in nature. not been easy these days but i can still see the similarities. have we gone too far in garrett? romo? wittin? who's got enough years left to help correct this and when do you realize how far off you've gone?

for all you IGS's out there giggling as the chance to do the TL/DR - gotcha. now move along and shut up. i'm gonna keep writing for those who wish to read it now.

12-4. that's where we left this machine in motion. 1 bad call away from home, we felt. 1 bad call that is still debated, still denied, and still cried upon. "1 more inch" seems to be the story of dez's life. barely out of bounds against the giants long ago, barely out of bounds on another call and barely hits the ground, if it does. but that's how close we were and we knew, just knew next year would be our year.

we've come to the point where even math laughs at us and on one but garrett believes in it. the hardest part of all this is even teams we laugh at on a regular basis have found ways to win while we have found new ways to hurt. new insults and memes log facebook like a google ad for something you were stupid enough to search for online, reminding you over and over what you're missing.

we're 3 and something? 4 and something? (insert painful correction of my lazy recollection of our record here) and to be honest, i just quit counting. 3 weeks left is it? did i get something right? you'll have to forgive me, i seem to care as much as at least 1/2 of this team. not much anymore.

but i'm just a fan. i can get away with apathy towards a situation and come back strong tomorrow and full of believe that the miracle is about to start. but even i give up on that stance when i see the collective lack of effort we call the dallas cowboys these days. while i do say "collective" i certainly don't mean all. if i could cherry pick out someone who shows regardless the situation they are in the fight to the end, if not longer...

no more calls. we have our "never gives up" winner this year.

*btw, yes i gave up trying to make the IMG tag work. i suck...

i can't help but see larry allen here. the only thing missing today is the rest of the team. but how can a whole NFL team be so complacent? so lack of give a ****? WHO could let that happen? i only know of 1 person or role on the team where this should fall and while i've been a quiet supporter over the years hoping like others for the ghost of the landry style to come in vogue again, like others i've been let down in unimaginable ways only the truly pathetic teams can understand.

excuse me, cleveland, is this seat taken? could you please hide that damn win you still have manziel as your qb! wait...

even oakland has left us behind at this dance.

where do we go now though? i can go off and call out some players who we all know can't catch, run, tackle, or care. we've got a lot of people calling them out thread after thread after oh look, a brand new player bashing thread but to be just as honest, this is a team thing and singling out "bad" players is far too easy when trying to look for the good.

whitehead. he's got some game. jones. yea, we got it right there. lawrence? hey we overpaid at the time and the IGS has cut him more often than the groundscrew has cut the whitehouse lawn but anyone calling him out in a bad way these days? sunnofabch maybe it does take some time for players to come into their own. this will give me hope in gregory and hey, i'd like to see that green kid some this year along with moore.

we know what we have in qb and i think it's more than safe to say that position will get a lot of love in the offseason - which may as well be starting now. get in some *real* pre-season games for next year. let the kids play. put dez on a treadmill and have a throwing machine pummell him with footballs until he catches 2 in a row. that should keep him busy for a few hours. let cassel put his mad clipboard skills back to work and let's see what we have here.

lets see if we have another collins out there who knows he's in a bucket of NFL Poo but wants his shot to show he's better than what we see so far. *I* wanna see that. *THAT* gives me a reason to watch next week. not some futile attempt to show i passed 3rd grade math and use that as my bible.

we know we're in for some pretty massive changes and a few weeks ago the thought of red gone and maybe payton coming back home was just a pipe dream. yea, i guess it still is. but it's the season of dreams and telling santa what we want.

all i want for xmas is this team to have the desire it used to. to me, that takes a culture shift because a *winning* culture would never let a team be this bad. so put me down to see what our younger players have. except for street. seen it, move along. nothing to see here.

3 more games, is it? 4? can we just get back to a point where we as cowboys fans care?

come to think of it, the subject really doesn't fit after all. :)

Excellent post, Laddie!
You have, slushy chap, encapsulated our dim future by pointing out a . . . what's the word . . . malise in the team.

But first the fearsome threesome of Witten, Romo and Garrett.
Witten, realistically has maybe a year before he starts playing like Grandpa Witten. Romo -- does anyone here really believe he can go through another season without injury or declining skills? Stick a fork in romo -- he has brittle bones and will show it from now on. Garrett, well, a nice enough young man. Capable in a supporting role but over his head as a head coach. Sir Jones can't -- won't -- fire him.
So look for a clapping, losing-record coach on the sidelines for another 2 years at least.

And you are so right, Bloke, about this dispirited team.
They don't care anymore. they have thrown in the towel and just want to go home, fire up the grills and relax with a few bottles of warm Guinness.

It does not look good.

But, laddies, be confident in Dallas' ability to get some gold in the next 3 or 4 drafts. We'll sux like the Raiders for several years but with some good scouting, can get a good QB, RB and receiver -- another set of triplets. A receiver, by the way, who is "passionate" like Dez but won't phone it in when it counts.

Think draft. Because that is all we have.
Time for Guinness and biscuits, quite right.

With some fish and chips and pot roast and maybe Yorkshire Pudding brought in fresh from Leeds? Now, that is a drink and meal fit for big landowners, Laddie. First wipe the soot from ye face, Lad before we enter the Olde Horseman's Castle.

Change at the very top of the coaching staff is not coming until we miss the playoffs with Romo.
