Great post, absolutely agree.

Just think of all the players that were heavily critisized in the early part of their career, only to become great contributors once they gained experience. The amount of experience varies from player to player. However, from what I understand, DT is one of the positions that generally take a little longer.

Mazi is not a top 5 pick. He is not a "generational" talent. However, he is capable of having an excellent career once everything clicks for him. He seems to be putting in the effort and I think we will see some Pro Bowl type performances from him around the 3rd or 4th season. I think we will see above average performances from him close to the end of this season.

As for Jerry Jones.....well.....I believe my opinion is well documented. It is very similar to the OP, although mine is far less diplomatic.

Here’s where some patience is warranted around here:
  • 22 year old rookies who haven’t even played a regular season game yet deserve some patience.
  • Some developmental players who may take more than a year to be what we hoped they would be.
Here where patience is NOT warranted:
  • Our 80 year old owner/GM who has had 28 years to at least win a divisional round playoff game or get us to a conference championship game and hasn’t.
  • Maybe this year is the year. We certainly are capable with a good roster and good coaches.
I believe the young men who are busting their butts right now to get better as football players deserve patience. The old man in the owners box? I don’t think a single Cowboys fan is wrong to be sick of watching his tired act spout “uhs” by the dozens in unnecessary interviews and general self centered-ness that has at times undermined our coaches.

As a life-long educator who spent decades teaching and working with young people, my colleagues and I used to have a phrase we used a lot: “Don’t ever give up on a kid. Adults have had time to know better”.
Love ya BH but this could've been said in 14 words: "I feel it's way too early to put Mazi Smith in the bust category."

There are those of us who feel differently. When Gallimore and Hill have shown more than him at this same point then we have a huge issue here.

Jerry’s specific shortcomings and eccentricities are common knowledge throughout the league but the one thing that I’ve heard consistently is that media generally agrees that Jerry has fielded an exceptional roster .

If true, the players have this season on their shoulders……to win or fail

Jalen Tolbert is a terrific success story, a guy who's completely turned it around after a lost rookie season. He's a great reminder that young players develop at different rates and we have to be patient, a lesson I'm going to take to heart.
Mazi Smith is an absolute bust. He will turn out to be the worst draft pick any team has ever made in the history of the draft. They should cut him yesterday.
success better be measure in SB's. If not, the story is nice and all, but meaningless where it matters. But your right. JT is a guy we all wanna see do well. Great kid. Talented.

If we were talking about children, I would agree. But, When the children are +21 year old millionaires led by an adult multi billionaire that acts like a child, you have no patience for either. Especially when you pay money to watch them act like professionals and get year after year unprofessional inconsistent results.

As for as the football player, you know I believe in the Landry, Parcells, and any other competent coach or GM 3 year rule. So based on that, the scouting has been great. The management of the talent has been awful. So, the talent has under performed.

Dallas Cowboy fans deserve better than the last 30 years of the Arlington Jonesboys. Professional pay deserves professional results. Patience is not a business virtue or you will be waiting for the buggy whip to be a top seller again.

So this year, what will be the blame on the owner

Ooh....Ooh....me..me....me! :flagwave::flagwave::flagwave:

How about 27 consecutive years of futility as a GM, enough to get 5 GM's fired?

This season it could be the refusal to address the RB depth in a more meaningful way. It could be reaching for another 2nd round TE despite already having two 2nd year guys with great potential to contribute.

It could be the procrastination when searching for quality competition for a kicker. It could be losing another O-line starter without a viable replacement.

It could be treating his position of GM as if it was a part time job. It could be him telegraphing team information to opponents via media interviews. Perhaps it's the distractions he creates every time he opens his mouth.

How many owners schedule regular press conferences? How many GM's? The smart ones leave that task to the HC while they work behind the scenes without revealing their actions. They work tirelessly for one purpose only and it doesn't have anything to do with publicity, selling tickets, or managing a colosseum venue.

If the Cowboys win a Super Bowl it will be in spite of Jerry Jones.

His job as a GM was to assist the Head Coach in building an exceptional team. Championships aren't won by exceptional rosters.

The Mount Rushmore of this CZ MESSAGE BOARD IS BobHaze,Coogs, and Ksk.. then Id' like to think I might be under consideration in the mix. But I bet ya a few been on here even longer than me. I started over on the Dallas.com board back in the mid/early 2000's, then when that shut down came here directly. Point is, Much respect I have for you guys that have been posting for a long while. U are true fans. When certain members say a statement on a new thread, I listen. Because I know its from the heart and well thought out. The ones that post things just 2 get a stir, I chuckle at and ignore usually. But hey, its entertaining. I respect guys like Risen, Ronnie, and I know Im forgetting a bunch. Dunno, guess I am thinkin out loud. Sorry guys, carry on......PS..any new member or rookie poster here, I got some advice. Whatever you say, OWN IT. Dont hide behind words, just own it and much respect will come your way, even if we don't always agree.

I mean is Jerry really a gm though? Isn’t it McClay and Stephen? Either Jerry has changed and gotten better or someone else is at work. I chose the latter….
he still holds the title lol, he did let mc clay appear in a few conferences, but he had no title lol.
Who hires a guy for a job, but keeps the title of that job himself ??

He's not the GM....not even close anymore

And if he is even slightly the GM...are you saying Dallas hasn't built a very good roster?

Maybe this thread should be pinned! After reading comments from Jerry about the Colts RB Taylor, I just can't take it anymore with him.

He really isn't. Like I said earlier either he learned from his mistakes or he's not actually the GM. He may officially sign off on stuff but he's relying heavily on Stephen and Will. You can just tell about how they approach the game now as opposed to even 7 years ago.

true, but people expect 1st and 2nd round picks to at least play decently in first year.
round 3 and below should be given time, 2 years at least

Oh, well, I don’t know about any or all of this.
I am just ready for the real games to start. So I can enjoy the season as it unfolds. And I can give a rats behind about the past years. I can’t change it, so don’t allow it to consume me.

Still busy in Florida taking care of some things so have not got to read all the whining or the Pom Pom posts as normal.
so by the time I get back it will be ready for the real football to begin. But I am sure it will all be the same on here.

Jerry reviews threads like this and treats them as his morning? Jealousy always chokes dead those that harbor it. Sad…
