Where should Byron Jones play?

I watched every game and looked at the stats from last year and IMO Jones is a corner and probably a very good one. I understand that last year they moved him around to try and figure out where he fits. I understand that line of thinking but I think Jones is a Corner and that's where he should play. They should let him compete for one of the starting corner spots and go from there instead of sticking him in various positions at different times. I think a lot of people are thinking Claiborne is the starter but I just don't see him beating Jones out of that spot. Another thing, I wouldn't try to make a safety out of Byron Jones. I just don't think that's a good fit for him. Let him cover the really good players and use his great athletic ability. I understand that training camp will sort these things out but you never know. What do you think?

You prefer him at CB?

I don't at all. He had a lot of rough patches when he was on the perimeter.

He was a rookie though...I think he would be better at corner. I know we need safety help but putting Jones there is something I wouldn't do...

don't recall seeing him enough at safety to assume he'd be a lock there, saw enough of him playing outside to know I dont care to see him there. Looked best in the slot on tight ends.

I'd be shocked if he isn't starting FS week 1. He seemed a lot more comfortable there, and got burnt with some regularity as cb.

A lot of rookie CB's do.

Personally, the only thing I saw from Byron that leads me to believe he's a good safety is how well he plays TE's.

FS is his best position, but I think if we draft Ramsey, we will eventually move him to CB. I think Jones is more fluid than Ramsey and Ramsey is built better for the run.

I like him at FS. His range and athleticism really fits the position, I just hope they let him settle into that position and use him there as opposed moving him around. I'm not even sure on if I like the plan to have him as a slot corner on 3rd down and bringing a safety off the bench. Maybe if he doesn't really develop a nose for the ball, but if he does, use him as a center fielder exclusively.

What's it going to be then, eh?

My gripe with Ramsey is simple and has been consistent all along.

If he is not a master of one role, he is not much good to this scheme which is fairly rigid at times.

Same with Myles Jack. Almost the exact same rationale, but yet it gets mistaken for "hate".

Our defensive scheme will never be capable of making him into the player he was at FSU when he was playing safety.

That is the dynamic player, not the corner in 2015. Ramsey made a lot of plays rushing, blitzing and so on. That is the player that he should be.

Dallas supposedly wants to make him a cornerback.

Perhaps if Marinelli leaves and Eberflus takes over he tries something different.

Safety.

He's not only one of the most athletic guys in the league, he's probably the 2nd smartest guy we have on defense outside of Sean Lee.

He's already shown he can drop down and match up against TE's which is invaluable in this new TE/WR hybrid league.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's responsible for calling secondary coverages sometime this year.

I will be the first, for the Ramsey fams...
Jones should play best paired with Ramsey....

I'd love that to death, we would have perhaps the best S tandem in the NFL, when almost every team has at least a bad one or at best an average one. Won't happen though the way the Cowboys think is one has to be a CB out of the two,
