Did they even suit him for this game? Our best running back was lost for the game, so they ran Zeke. Fair enough, but he's a shell of his former self, and we have another capable running back in Davis. No, he's not as good as Pollard, but he has some abilities, and with both Davis and Zeke we would have had a better chance to keep the running game going.
I kept yelling for them to put Davis in. They never did. They even used Lamb for some running plays and short, run-after-catch passes, and he's not a running back.
Davis was in there on a play or few. But McCarthy never had the sack to make him a significant part of the game, which is what he should have done the second Pollard left the game.
Zeke continued averaging what he averaged the past couple games, around 2 yards a carry.
No doubt he's what they call "done."
I'm even done blaming Dak. If your coach can't step in an intervene, and micromanage things like simply calling a running play on 2nd and 2 in the land of Don't Turn it Over Here, he shouldn't be the coach. My biggest gripe against Kellen Moore was calling a pass play on 2nd and 2. But that should have never have been allowed to happen. And it wouldn't have happened with any HC worth his salt in charge.
The other part is, like you said, not playing Malik Davis, or even a guy like Ollison, against the 9ers. Zeke is fried, and you can see that; you can see it more than anyone else because you see him at practice, so why didn't you adjust to it?
Why did you sign Malik Davis if you refuse to use him in the playoffs? You should trust all your backs on the active roster, or they shouldn't be active on gameday in the playoffs.
This game was a fail on none other than Mike McCarthy, and I'm pretty sure Micah Parsons feels the same way.
