Not really sure how the packers above us. They a have a bad defense and they cant protect Arod. I think the running game is a touch better than the Cowboys, but really not that impressive this year even with Arod playing. Of course my inlaws are all ***** packer fans so there is a little hate mixed in there too!!

So a loss on Sunday is basically Garrett losing to an inferior team then.

Will be just more proof that he needs to go.

If Garrett doesn't get us to the playoffs, then yes, I believe he will be gone. For better or worse.

I think all these teams are better than the Cowboys.

Seahawks
Saints
49ers
Packers (with Rodgers)
Bears
Panthers
Lions
Cardinals

It wouldn't be hard to convince me both the Giants and Eagles are better.

That's 10. We're in the bottom half of the conference, without a doubt.

I just don't how Jason Garrett can keep his job if he cannot win this pathetic division.

It's all there for the Cowboys to go get it. If they don't, then Garrett has to go.

Preach it brother........................there is no excuse.............NONE................for not winning this pathetic division.

I agree with all except one. And I also agree with your Giants/ Eagles statement. I don't know if the Bears are better, however. I don't think Dallas wins that game- a Monday nighter in December in Chicago- but even with that, I cant right now say that the Bears are a better team. They have some pretty big problems too.

Maybe they were atrocious when they were 0-6, but they are better now at 4-6, like it or not.

And the thread is about where we stand today. And they are clearly playing better football than we are.

as I said...

the Giants are atrocious. Results oriented thinking is terrible logic in the NFL.

So are we atrocious too? It took a last second FG to beat them

we didn't play well. Romo was once again horribly inaccurate. Dez had arguably his worst game as a pro. We are missing our best defender. we were fighting the refs, who had several bogus calls against us.

and with all that, the giants gauranteed a win because this was "their Superbowl". We still won.

so no. We are not atrocious. Right now id say we are overwhelmingly mediocre.

Teams better than us

Seattle 10-1
New Orleans 9-2
Carolina 8-3
San Francisco 6-4
Arizona 7-4

Next tier

Detroit 6-5
Dallas 6-5
Chicago 6-5
Philadelphia 6-5
Green Bay 5-5-1 (with Rodgers they jump to the top of this tier)

The only other team that may be relevant

St. Louis 5-6

That is how I would rank them.

NO and SEA #1 and #2
SF is a maybe #3, way to up and down to be a serious threat

Next tier:
Det, Dal, GB(if AR is back soon) and maybe CAR(haven't figured them out yet)

Other tier:
Chi, Phi, ARI(they do have Palmer) and maybe CAR

Basically, there is only two teams that are head and shoulders better-NO and SEA and that is only true when they are at home.

One of those will miss the playoffs even though they are all better than the winner of NFC east and north

are you putting arz there because of their record? I read some where that 4 of those wins are against teams that have a worse than 3-8 record. I'd need to look it up to verify, but its food for thought.

Carolina 8-3 zona 7-4 both teams have been better than Dallas. If the playoffs started now San Fran would be odd man out

Teams clearly better than the Cowboys:

Saints
49ers
Seahawks

Teams probably better than the Cowboys:

Panthers
Giants
Eagles
Lions
Bears

Teams arguably better than the Cowboys:

Cardinals
Packers (will move up when Rodgers returns)

Teams worse than the Cowboys:

Rams
Commanders
Viking
Bucs
Falcons

Discuss.

I think we are in the bottom third of the NFC. So i would say your post seems fair.

In their final five games, the Cowboys get pathetic Oakland and two of the pathetic teams within their division. They should win all those. However, they get a chance to make a statement against either Chicago or Green Bay, depending on who's playing quarterback.

Wasn't talking about when the playoffs started, just overall strength. Dallas can beat either Car or Ari in Dallas, if we don't get anymore injuries that is. I think we can beat SF too at home.

Any team can beat any team. But through 12 weeks Carolina and Arizona have very good. Carolina has won 6 straight. That's hard to do. Beating New England and San Francisco in those 6 straight. And Arizona whipped Indianapolis today. You are what your record says you are. 7-4 speaks for itself, Bruce Arians has done a great job. Carolina, zona, and San Fran all have good defenses. Which is something you need on the road in the playoffs. Arizona might be a pretender, but I think Carolina is legit for sure.
