Why do you think Goff has a higher ceiling?

arm strength?
mobility?
passion for the game?
natural leadership?
size?
college competition?

Arm talent is where Goff has the significantly higher ceiling. The rest of the package? Man, you wonder if he isn't missing some key ingredients based on his preseason showing.

I had mentioned earlier, for as great as Prescott's preseason stats are, I think it's a lot of the other stuff that can't be so easily graded pre-draft that would cause him to soar up the boards. The poise, pocket presence, leadership, etc.

lol at everyone thinking Dak would go higher than Goff or Wentz on the first couple of pages of this thread. Dak is a 4th round pick for a lot of reasons. Questions about being able to run an NFL offense, playing under center, footwork....

He has the size, arm strength, and a good set of wheels for an NFL qb for sure.

It's also like some of the coaches are saying on TV: he is driving a Ferrari while the others are driving Yugos.

6' 2" is average, his arm strength is slightly above average...maybe, and his 4o time (4.79) was slower than Tim Tebow's. Jason Witten was much faster entering the league.
So, although he does not lack at all in any of those areas, they are not huge strengths.
But it's between in ears and in the heart where he may one up some of these guys.

I think Dak has shown he should have been drafted at least in the third round, and if not a borderline starter, a quality backup. I like the pic when we did it, and still do.

If the draft were today Dak Prescott would absolutely be drafted before Goff. Goff has the Rams very nervous.
Dak has been mentioned as a potential rookie of the year candidate. Goff has been mentioned as a possible bust candidate.

Its too early to know how this will turn out....But you cant sell me on the idea that NFL execs would ignore what Dak has been able to do and ignore what Goff has failed to do and still draft Goff ahead. The stuff isn't measurable at scouting combines is what makes QB's successful in this league. Tom Brady, Tony Romo, Kurt Warner, Drew Brees, Russell Wilson, ect all have excelled in this league due to the things that cant be measured at a scouting combine.

Dak was a 4th round pick for a lot of reason...I agree... these reasons are why the scouting combine and where you are drafted don't guarantee success or failure. Tony Romo has said in many interviews that he didn't measure up to the guy he was drafted with as far as throwing drills, mechanics, ect.....He obviously excelled over them in the things throwing drills and footwork don't measure.

Well, considering the Vikings might be giving up a first rounder for Sam Bradford, Dak should be worth at least that much. Good lord.

Goff has disappointed in camp, but there is no way Dak would be re-drafted above him, not based on 4 weeks of camp and preseason football. The Dak love in here is approaching ridiculous levels.

Goff hasn't disappointed in camp. Goff has disappointed in live games. a Bit of a difference.
The Dak love isn't just here.
Check around the league. Check the national stories. All the major networks, sportswriters ect.
The national stories are Dak Prescott A+, Goff F. This isn't just cowboyszone love.

If Carson Wentz could jump from 2-3rd round prospect to the 2nd pick in the draft based on nothing. Goff would slip once scouts watched his last 4 games.
Dak was rated as a 2-3rd round QB. I guess you really believe scouts would watch him operate in a NFL offense against teams starters including Seattle and they would just ignore whats in front of their face and still draft Goff? haha...come on man.

Why can't you grade poise and pocket presence pre draft? I would argue otherwise ...Dak definitely has those ingredients

Dak would be a first round pick if there was a do over............not going to say first overall, but he would go in the first without a doubt.

Exactly, 90% of the position half mental as Yogi Berra would say.

In the 2000 draft one QB with all the measurables was taken in the first round. His name was Chad Pennington. Tom Brady was drafted in the sixth round of that draft.

Given that Dak has been lighting it up during preseason he'll probably be the 1st player selected overall.

Not arguing that. I'm just saying the idea that somehow Dak moves up to #1 pick overall in the draft based on his preseason performance is not realistic.

i don't know. Goff and Wentz haven't looked like "all that and a bag of chips". I think you have to factor that in as well.

If everyone had a crystal ball I doubt that the Rams traded up for Goff and I think the sheagles would have traded up as well they are idiots that will never win a superbowl and well I am happy we landed Dak where we did.
