Where You Live: Best & Worst

Vancouver, WA (right next to Portland, OR)

Good: The area is walk/bike friendly. Broad sidewalks, lots of bike lanes and great public transportation.

Bad: Local gov't sucks. Too many hippie programs and not enough money to feed them = schools get the shaft. They were actually considering getting rid of P.E. because they cannot afford it.

Great place to visit especially if you want to get away from the Texas heat.

uhm, I'm more like 3,200+ miles away.

CA <-----------------------------------------------------------------------------> MD

I thought you lived in Annapolis.

san marcos

best: nothing, but if i have to say something, when you first get here it looks pretty.

worst: there are so many but what drives me insane is that everything but the freaking bars close down at 10

I never lived in San Marcos but I sure partied there some when I was younger. I had a lot of fun there.

Austin Area

Best - Live music everywhere. You can't throw a stone without hitting three musicians.

Worst - The crooks and idiots in the state legislature are here all too often.

yeah all my friends have a blast when they visit, but living here sucks. there are no career opportunities other than maybe city work, very limited on restaurant choices(even more so on good ones), every fall/spring semester i almost get hit head on 5 times cause idiots cant read one way signs, and many many more but i could go on forever, lets just say i cant wait to get out of here

best: the weather. I grew up in upstate NY and the winters were long. In CA, if I want to drive to the snow or the beach, I am about an hour away.

worst: housing market is one of the worst in the US and a state government that doesn't know what they are doing or how to budget money correctly.

Albuquerque

Best: Easily the amount of ridiculously good mexican food.

Worst: Easily the amount of ridiculously crazy crime.

Nashville:

The Best: cool "foodie", Southern, Mexican, etc restaurants. p.s. Has the BEST Fried Green Tomatoes (Arnold's - won a James Beard Award)

The Worst: Not a well-drained city. Rain = flood.

Worst: The nearest "convenience store" is 5 miles away.

Best: Huge lake loaded with fish and plenty of wildlife around.

Houston

Best: Big city, but moderate cost of living, job market's solid, very diverse community. Quality entertainment outlets. Close to the beach

Worst: Traffic, Public transportation sucks if you're in the burbs. Floods at the hint of a downpour. It's hot, but it's the humidity and mosquitos that really get to you.

Best: It's close to Atlanta.

Worst: It's still relatively segregated.

Sounds nice. Maybe I'll move down there. :D

best: change of seasons, diverse topography, cultures and cuisines. easy access to other NE corridor cities

worst: without a doubt, the drunk, stupid, Eagles fans

Concord, Ohio

Best...Love the change of seasons.

Worst...I hate the change of seasons.
