Best - Cost of living/real estate is insanely inexpensive. Four seasons with a mild winter and not overly hot summer. One of the best flyfishing streams in the world. Extensive Rails to Trails. Almost no natural disasters (earthquakes, hurricanes, blizzards, tornados, etc). And you can be a big fish.

Worst - They keep opening methadone clinics and rehab centers that are bringing in an undesirable element from Philly, Washington/Baltimore and Newark/NYC.

I'm moving back up there in 2 weeks. I can't wait to come home!

Are you getting posted to some decent job up there at least?

It is museum heaven. I was up in the area for a month or two one summer, and it was fun hitting the Smithsonian/etc three days a week.

Euless/Grapevine (Halfway between Dallas and Ft. Worth)

Best - The previously mentioned access to the Team and stadium, restaurants, very clean and upscale, great access to major arteries that can take me to downtown Dallas or Ft. Worth in 20 minutes, incredible school district, very reasonable property values compared to many parts of the country, better economy than the vast majority of the US, people are generally friendlier than most major cities (southern thing I guess), access to other sports teams - not that I really follow them due to my overarching addiction to the NFL, no state income tax,

Worst - I will say the heat and humidity, but I still think it is a small price to pay for mild winters. Originally from Vegas...that is HELL HEAT.

Well i live in Hawaii so i guess you can pick anything you want about Hawaii that you feel is great. I love the people and the eclectic choices of food.

The worst thing about Hawaii is that i live on a frickin island. Im too far away from my Cowboys.

What is the best thing about where you live?

1) Going for my walk in the early mornings on my day off, and watching a crane take off from Smith's Creek as I cross over the bridge...

2) Watching a herd of 7 deer drinking from Smith's Creek as I crossed over that same bridge a few weeks later.... I stood still and watched them for like 3 minutes until they noticed me and took off...

3) Passing a Little League baseball field at 10 at night on my way to work, the lights on and the cars packed in there... the folks in Mount Jackson apparently take their Little League baseball quite seriously...

4) The redbud in full bloom in the spring, it turns the woods around my house into a sea of hot pink... I always look forward to that...

5) The leaves in the autumn, as the woods turn yellow and orange and red... I don't even mind having to get out the leaf blower every week...

6) Laying in bed on a summer's night, and listening to the creek flowing under my back porch... it's the best natural sleeping pill in the world...

7) Not having a neighbor for 3/4 of a mile in any direction, but still having a 7-11 and a grocery store within 10 minutes, a Wal Mart within 20...

Basically, I love living in the woods... I love the quiet, I love the wildlife... the view out of my bedroom windows is phenomenal in the summertime...

What is the worst thing about where you live?

1) Snakes... mostly the copperheads and the timber rattlers, though I don't like it when a black snake figures out how to get into my house either... hate evicting them, they get pissy... LOL...

2) Bears... only actually seen them two or three times, but it was always a little too close for comfort (IOW, on one of my walks), and I'm always aware they're out there... and one of them killed my last dog...

3) Blizzards... the road I live on is not the top priority of the snow plow boys...

Lows: Bob is a mere 30 minutes away.

Oh, the horror... OTOH, that probably keeps the price of real estate fairly low... :D

Right there with you.

Think we hit high 90s the other day and when factoring the humidity, it felt like it was 112.

The other night after watching Inception, I was on the way home around 12:45 AM.

Heat index was 88.

I don't how hot it gets in the deserts. If you live in a place with humidity in never cools down. NEVER.

northcentral montana. great falls to be exact.

best thing: air force base, town is growing, & more things to do.

worst thing: still not enough to do due to the population. town is pretty conservative IMO. weather can be very unpredictable a lot of the time.

Fort Mill, SC

Best: Located in the middle of the East Coast with a major airport twenty minutes away (Charlotte), so all the major East Coast Cities are a within a few hours, tops. Overall, it is a good place to raise a family with a lot of activities and the houses aren't too expensive considering the location.

Worst: I will have to purchase Direct TV to watch Cowboy Games  ! They are cutting back on school funding this year due to the recession, so we are considering putting our kids in private schools until they can get back to a better student/teacher ratio. Not enough "real" Mexican restaurants. They have those cookie cutter joints that serve the American versions of Mexican food, but no real stuff like carne guisada and taquitos with Chorizo and eggs!

Spruce Creek. Far and away the best stream on the East Coast.

Really? Never heard of it....although I've only fished PA three or four times.

What's the target there? Brown's? Rainbows? Native Brookies?

Is it a feeder for Lake Erie?

It's just south of State College.

Mostly Browns. It's all private except for a small section that Penn State owns. Unless you own property or are a member on one of the clubs the only other way to get on is an outfitter so its pretty exclusive which means 5 pounders all over the place.

You should really check it out.

Rural Northeast Missouri. Very nice countryside with rolling fields, hills, trees, lakes and wildlife. No crowding.

The downside is that sports coverage centers on the Chiefs, Rams and Bears...ugh. Thank you internet.
