Let's say Red stays as HC, and let's dream and say that Jerry lets Red pick his own coordinators. Who should he pick and why? Somewhat realistic answers.

I think Im gonna go ahead and pick the coordinators I already know will be coming here before next season, that way when they come I'll look like a genius!....LOL:D

O.C.......Paul Chryst

D.C.......Dom Capers

I'd love this. Don't know how they can get Capers away from GB though.

OC - Rob Chudzinksi. Has done a good job at O-C before, he's the current San Diego TE coach so he could move up to O-C since it is not a parallel move. Ran an offense similar to Garrett's scheme wise. Smart, tough, no nonsense coach who could actually play in college.

DC - Ron Rivera. Depends on if Norv gets fired or not. If not, maybe Dennis Thurman from the Jets.

I guess P Chryst is the hot name at OC.

At DC, I think it would have to be someone who is/was comfortable with the 34 defense at some point in his career (as at least the base defense).

Maybe Rivera if Norv is let go? Maybe Ryan from Oakland if Cable is fired?

Ryan is with Cleveland and he's not going anywhere.

I'll also add that getting the right DC may be the most important off-season acquisition that Garrett makes in 2011.

Now I need to pull another name out of the hat :D

I'm on board with Chryst.

Defense ... Rob Ryan. I'd love to bring his "amoeba defense" to Dallas. He's made Tom Brady and Drew Brees look like rookies with a bunch of Chris Gocongs and Kenyon Colemans.

i thought the nfl clarified that there are two tiers of coaches, HC and everyone else. didn't they do this 2 or 3 years ago because of all the bs assistant HC titles added to coordinators? if so, position coaches and o/d coordinators are all the same and considered a lateral move.

I'm down with this.

I'm on the Chryst bandwagon as well.

If 49ers let Singletary go, he'd be my choice for DC.

Singletary could never be a defensive coordinator. He doesn't understand Xs & Os and play-calling.

Dom Capers and Norv Turner.

That would probably be best. Anyone could be the HC with those guys.

I really like Kubiak's offense, but he doesn't even run the same system as Garrett, so he's not a realistic choice. OC doesn't matter much because Jason will still be the real OC.

Defense, who knows. Capers is a good DC, but I don't see why he'd come here. He might actually hope to get a HC job somewhere this year, though I doubt he would. If he sees that isn't realistic I don't see why he wouldn't just stay at Green Bay where he's already built something good. Maybe if Jerry outspent everyone else.

Someone like Thurman or the LB coach at Pittsburgh seems good, but who knows if they'd get a chance to come here.

I'd still rather have Fisher for head coach and Kubiak for OC. ;)

YUP, wouldn't be bad at all, Singletary

If we needed someone to yell. We'd have to have a position coach who could actually coordinate, though. Singletary would be an awful choice.

OC: Chryst or Norm Chow
-QB Coach: Rick Dennison (Houston Texans OC)
-OL Coach: John Benton (Houston Texans OL Coach)

DC: Capers, Dennis Thurman or Rob Ryan
- Def Asst/DL: Butch Davis
- Def Asst/Secondary: Darren Perry (GB Packers Safety Coach, also played/worked w/LeBeau in Pittsburgh)
