Leaf or Bledsoe.

Leaf of course kept popping his arm out of place on those throws but man that dude could sling the rock.

Bledsoe needed a sundial to time his set up and delivery but once launched it was a scud missile.

Aikman wasn't near those guys in ball speed but he was far more accurate, had a quicker release and a much more catchable ball.

Roger had a really strong arm but he had those funky broken fingers and stuff that probably kept him from getting an ideal grip or release. He was still easily the most clutch Cowboy ever.

Craig Morton, before he ripped up his shoulder, could really hum the ball. He split the webbing between Bob Hayes' fingers with a pass in the '60s.

When he first came out wasnt there stories about him heaving it 70 yards in the air on a Cowboys workout through the uprights while standing on his KNEES? I seem to remember that story and if true thast true arm strength becaus ethats bot using your body and striding into it or anytrhing. Thast almost all arm.

Aikman was not just accurate, he had a lot of zip on his passes as well.

Morton had a very strong arm but his accuracy was poor compared with Aikman's.

Staubach was like Romo in that he could throw it deep but his passes were lofted rather than zipped. He threw it hard when he needed to though. Meredith was like that too.

Bledsoe had a very strong arm as well and could throw with velocity.

If you are asking who could throw the ball the hardest, I would probably go with Morton or Bledsoe but it doesn't matter how hard you can throw it if you can't get it to where it needs to be, that's why I go with Aikman. He could probably throw it every bit as hard as Morton or Bledsoe but he was concerned more with accuracy than with trying to throw it through a wall.

What about Meredith? I thought he had a great arm.

No argument with your concept ...I'm just curious how the speed is determined. In Baseball - uncertain whether it's calculated from ...

- release

- release to point of contact (based on a timing measurement)

In Football - uncertain if it's calculated at all (but I'm still researching)

Ryan Leaf. The guy had a cannon for an arm.

Sounds like a lot of fire was on that pill ...did anything denote how many yards away Bob Hayes was from Craig Morton? Approximately?

Coming out, Leaf had as good an Arm as I've ever seen. Of course, that was not him as a Cowboy but he could throw the ball.

I'd have to say that Bledsoe was right there as well. I mean, when he was young, he could bring it pretty good and he could even throw it pretty well in Dallas but nothing like when he was young in NE.

Cunningham could really throw when he was young as well. Very nice arm. He could still throw when he came to Dallas but, like Bledsoe, it was not like before.

Troy, well, he could bring it. He could throw passes in spots that you just couldn't beat. The thing he could do was throw that out and throw it with such velocity, such timing and such accuracy that you couldn't defend it. Lots of guys can throw hard but none of them could throw hard and accurate like Aikman IMO.

Clint Longley could throw it pretty hard. That's about all he could do though.

I guess Phil Simms (Giants) believed he could throw the ball with steam also ...he wrote an article about burning up receivers hands if they weren't wearing gloves.

Simms could throw. You watch QBs play in that stadium and the ball would come back in there faces. Simms could throw the ball with some velocity but it was hard to tell because of how the Medowlands wind effected the passing game.

Concannon, was the Bears' quarterback, until young Bobby Douglas gains enough experience to take over or the Bears make a trade. One of Douglas' main troubles, besides lack of experience, is that he just throws the ball too hard, trying to rifle it through the receivers like they were a wall ...

Which eagles qb has a ring?:)

Why try to start a debate between Eagles/Cowboys?

PT was not trying to engage anything. All he asked was which Cowboy QB we thought thew the hardest.

In baseball the MPH is clocked out of the pitchers hand (the ball looses about 6-8mph as it crosses homeplate) back in the day some scouts would clock the pitch at the plate as opposed to the mound and MPH would be slower.

Bobby Douglas. Watched a lot of Bears Games in the 70's when he was the QB. I really think the bears could have done something if they had run the option with Douglas. He was so big and strong he could have taken the punishment and could he run. He did have a cannon for an arm but was very inaccurate. If the bears had bothered to get a good QB coach he might have become a good QB.
