No one can know for certain, but IMO most signs point to drafting a quarterback. Maybe they'll even trade Dak during the 2020 season and play Dalton as a stop-gap.
I read the paper every morning like a religion.
we can only hope.No one can know for certain, but IMO most signs point to drafting a quarterback. Maybe they'll even trade Dak during the 2020 season and play Dalton as a stop-gap.
I’ve trusted them for 60 years. Surely your not suggesting I trust some Homers on an anonymous fan forum. LolThat's the problem.
Let me ask you this. Would you have ponied up a couple more million a year for only 4 years if you thought you’d lose Dak next year if you didn’t?That's why the length of contract is important to the Cowboys (IMO).
I assume by looking at how the CAP looks over the next 4/5 years that if we gave Dak 4 years it would mean:
a) Start restructuring the (Zeke, DLaw or Coops) contracts putting us into an even worse position.
b) It means that definitely through the first 3 years and possibly the 4th of the contract we'll have very little to spend in FA.
c) If the 2020 team doesnt go deep into the playoffs that's it, little way of significantly improving the team (other than the draft).
Five years would have given greater flexibility in 2020, 2021 which allows MM to build a team. Dak's choice to insist on 4 has quite severely restricted money and as such he'll need to show that the current is good enough.
If he is good enough and he and MM can get success with this team, fine in 2021 give him the 3 year contract he will possibly want.
Then I guess we should dump him and find us another Qb cause Cheapskate Son knows best how to build a pie.it's about the pieces of the pie. he's wanting too much even for 4 years.
Let me ask you this. Would you have ponied up a couple more million a year for only 4 years if you thought you’d lose Dak next year if you didn’t?
I hear ya but that’s the dice we roll now.No ... because if the team with Dak fails to accomplish and MM doesnt think Dak's his man we'll have very little left in CAP Space from 2021 through 2023 to improve.
Five years would have given more flexibility.. Four years MAY be doable, but only if Dak gets us to the point of not needing to improve in any areas.... (Secondary).
That’s been one angle but most likely we won’t have a high pick in 1st round .
The early discussions brewing in the local media is we would look to a veteran since we have a team ready to contend now.
The draft could take too long to develop someone and place so much of our roster under high contracts on hold .
Even harder to believe that some think that Quarterbacking a team with the #9 ranked defense, to an 8-8 season and failing to reach the playoffs in the worst division in football, is not failing.
Look, its over. Hes done. Face it. Hes a stop gap till MM can get HIS Qb. these negotiation were started during the Garrett era and now MM is here to put an end to this nonsense.
............He had his chance, and thank God, he blew it. Time to move on without Quincy Carter 2.0 as the future.
Get to Steppin
Now that we’ve come to grips with the shocking news yesterday the Cowboys have passed on resigning their QB ...
That’s not Daks job. It’s the Cowboys job to continue offering contracts until he accepts.Wow that's some fakenews. AFAIK, Dak *never* made an actual offer himself, let alone gave them a signed contract for them to sign.
I hear ya but that’s the dice we roll now.
Poor evaluation on our part we need more team success to validate our QB’s value. It’s laughable we don’t know if we have our guy unless the team has more success. I thought that’s how you measire your HC not your QB.
You’d think so. But I think most would concur that Jerry’s interest in a new HC stipulated on retaining Dak and even Moore. But to measure your HC it would be fair to let him acquire, or at least have a say, in the players he wants or thinks will bring him success.
That’s not Daks job. It’s the Cowboys job to continue offering contracts until he accepts.
We’ll be fine. Please tell us again how many playoff games Dak has won? In how many big games has he choked and disappeared?I’m not sure this is sinking in yet to all fans?
The Dallas Cowboys had their opportunity to secure Dak Prescott as their franchise QB and passed.
If you aren’t sold on Dak then you should be pleased. If not then you should be shattered today.
I’m not here to take sides but instead to look ahead what our best options are without Prescott. I understand not everyone is ready to move their thought process forward.
I’m not a big Dak supporter but what do we have without him? We’ll be fine. Please tell us again how many playoff games Dak has won? In how many big games has he choked and disappeared?
But that’s how professional sports work on star players.Nope. Negotiation goes both ways or it goes nowhere.
Gimme more!Gimme more!Gimme more!Gimme more!Gimme more!
Is not negotiating.
