Stanley, Watkins, Fasano, Green and Carpenter. I like em all. Its hard not to pull for someone as exciteable as Stanley so he would have to be my first choice.

I really like Watkins, for the one reason of that we have not had a true free safety since Teague. We keep plugging SS in the FS spot and hoping that they work out. Woodson was smarter then the others we've tried this with, that is why it worked, not because of the "system". I also like Green. I want to see something out of the return game this year. If the d-linemen can add quality depth, then that will be great, it is always better to have fresh bodies going into the fourth quarter.

In terms of potential, I would have to say that Hatcher is the one that I've been reading about his "potential" and if...he can develop that potential, we could have gotten quite a player in the 3rd round. Although in Hatcher's case, it may take a while to develop his potential and technique as well. The pick I feel "may" have more of an impact initially, is Green. While he is officially listed as a WR, I think his impact will be felt on punt/kick returns. IMO, that is the real reason Parcells picked him, because of his expected contributions to the return game, and not so much as a WR.

What he said.

I agree. Hatcher, Sprears, Canty, Ratliff. That could end up being the best rotating DE combination in the league.

I see Skyler Green as a potential Santana Moss.

I can also see Montavious Stanley emerging as our future Nose Tackle

Since the question was about "Potential" I will go with Hatcher. He has all the measurables with good size and speed. He could/should develop into a truly Awesome DE for us.

As for who will reach their potential First...Bobby Carpenter. He is a turn key project for us right out of college.

Green also will go straight to work for us...but as a returner not as a WR.

Watkins will follow several weeks later...maybe not until next season but I hope sooner.

Stanley like Watkins will contribute as a backup at first but he will be the starter as soon as Ferguson is done.

The issue I had with the pick is that I thought there some OL at that point in the draft who could have really helped us - perhaps the Packers threw a wrench in our plans with the drafting of Colledge.

Now Hatcher is obviously a guy dripping with potential - whether that is ever realized remains to be seen. Most guys like him don't amount to much in the end but I'll be rooting for him.

My initial issue was that it is a position that we are pretty deep at and I thought we had more pressing concerns. I never had a problem with him not being a player worth a 3rd round pick I trusted Ireland in that regard. I admit I knew nothing about him and had to do some homework on him to verify his value but I really never doubted that.

With hindsight being 20/20 and with us getting Watkins in the 5th (the guy I wanted in Hatchers place) it worked out great. Had we NOT gotten Watkins I might still be PO'd about the pick because the position is so deep.

I really like our draft. It wasn't by any means a "sexy" draft, but it certainly was a smart one.

All the players drafted before the 7th round seem like they're locks to make the team, and start helping us from day 1. Maybe with the exception of Hatcher, who probably has more upside than anyone else, simply in terms of his potential. To some extent Stanley as well.

This draft seems like its plugging up a hell of a lot of holes, and could be the glue that keeps this team together down the stretch this year.

I think that was the case, who was available along the Oline in the 3rd? I don't think it was anyone with the potential of Hatcher

I was going to go with Watkins (a 6-5 safety just intrigues the heck out of me), but I'm actually gonna say Green.

We haven't had a dynamic returner for a long time, especially one with wiggle. We've gone the route of a lot of straight-line speed guys, or guys with some wiggle who couldn't hold onto the ball (Ross). Green is so compact and his ability to bounce around is reminiscent of Dante Hall-lite.

I've seen some say it's silly to waste picks on special teams, but I entirely disagree -- especially when you're talking about a second-day pick and a guy who will be getting the ball in his hands. A great special teams unit can really be a catalyst in pushing a team over the edge, and with Vanderjagt, Boiman and Green, I'm pretty excited about this unit's potential improvement.

that was my initial issue too, well, more like it was my initial confusion, then I thought about Bill liking to rotate his down-lineman, and the fact that Hatcher has tremendous potential, cuz in essence, Hatcher is our project pick

exactly, if our 2nd day didn't turn out like it did, I wouldn't have seen how they could have justified the Hatcher pick

Don't forget that Watkins is a ST ace and will have an impact there if he doesn't crack the starting lineup right away. I may have sounded a bit negative about him in my earlier post in this thread but I am actually quite excited to have him here.
