Which draft pick's potential "excites" you the most?

Stanley...How about them Cowboys...lets get it baby!!!!

His attitude alone is worth his weight in gold

I think that was the case, who was available along the Oline in the 3rd? I don't think it was anyone with the potential of Hatcher

The guys at OT still on the board at that point were Joe Toledo, Ryan O'Callaghan and Jonathan Scott. Jean-Gilles was still available at OG at that point.

I think the best time to have filled the hole at OT was in the second round. I know a lot of people were down on him after the combine but I think Winston is going to be good - just needs some time in the weight room. He is a potential LT with a good frame and good feet. He could have been ready to start by next year.

And that hole being filled basically means taht whoever was drafted was going to be better than at least two of Adams/Fabini/Pettiti/Columbo.

Our true hole was in the interior line and ther was a reason why Giles was dropping. In terms of straight value Fasano > Giles.

It would have to be Hatcher, Stanley, or Watkins...if any of the 3 ever become starters, it will be a major draft victory...if any of the 3 ever becomes elite, that would be a dream situation.

The first two draft picks are expected to be starters, even great...that's how they've been billed, instant starters, the OLB we need, the TE like Bavaro...they do anything less than start this year, and they are failures for 1 year...

green itll be nice to see a guy who will dodge a pile when returning not to knock on TT tho
yep true, it will be nice to see a guy actually move left or right on kick returns. but seriously the guy has the potential to actually take it to the house, plus he could be a sick little WR in a couple years.
Watkins is the one I think has the most potential though. He could be the dream FS next to Roy.

Montavious "excites" me, because he talks dirty to QBs. :laugh1:

It is clear that BP wants his interior line to be quick guys- so GIlles was out. the rest of them with the exception of Colledge were not that great.

For me, it's Stanley at NT and Hatcher at DE.

I guess I already expect a lot out of Carpenter (as he's our top pick), so I'm taking him more for granted.

As for Hatcher, the guy is big, but he's not fat. He already weighs about 280-285 lbs, runs a 4.8 40 (though not really important for a DL, but impressive none-the-less), and he appears to have natural pass rushing skills. According to the stuff I've read and heard about this guy, he's your natural 3-4 DE. I think in another year or two, he could pay real dividends.

Actually I heard someone say at the Sr. Bowl (or what ever one he was at) he was over 290, like 293# or 294#.

I really am starting to like most of our draft. They all seem like hard workers who love the game. Not guys that we're gonna have to worry about coming into camp out of shape.

I can't wait to see some of the opposing QB's faces :laugh2:

I'm going to say Carpenter.... I really got sold on him during the predraft process.

I know he's our number 1 pick, but it's still potential... I think he'll be great in this defense.

Pat Watkins by far excites me the most. Everybody brings up his height and his inability to play man. I think at 6'-5" and 4.4 speed he's going to be a beast. FSU players are ballers. I see him starting by mid to late season(this season). Plus he's great goaline fade pass type guy. He's got some springs in his shoes, anyone see that one picture on the net where he's grabbing a int. His shoes are at the other peoples chest level. He's got something to prove and if they can get him comfortable in the system his upside will be huge.

Hatcher excites me the most, because I think if anyone has a chance to be a Pro Bowl player in this draft down the road its him.

How many 6'7" 286 lbs. defensive ends were All State WR's in high school that caught 28 passes for 1,028 yards that year? How many NFL WR's can claim they had a 36.7 ypc season at any level? Also, using Kirwan's strength and explosion formula, anything above 70 is elite and Hatcher grades out at 73.

Inman,

Do you have the strength and explosion numbers for our draft class by any chance? Just curious . . . .

I remember Carpenter was in the low 60's. Fassano is a 62. Montavious didn't do a bench press drill because he was rehabbing a torn peck muscle.
