None. And Troy is the most undereated, unlike Marino, Troy was about winning. Maybe thats why Jimmy ahd so much trouble in Miami, Marino was still there.

I think I read once that Emmitt rarely missed a game. That is amazing considering his size & how many times he touched the ball.

Those guys were just flat out winners.

Smith's durability WAS amazing. He was not a real big guy, and yet stayed healthy game after game.

According to all fans other than Dallas fans...each guy was just a product of the players he had around them...

Aikman was only good because he could hand it off to Emmitt and throw to Irvin.

Emmitt was only good because of his o-line and having Aikman and Irvin take the pressure off.

Irvin was only good because he had Aikman throwing the ball and Emmitt shouldering the load.

I ask, do you believe any of the Triplets was a product of the other players around him? Who gets the most and least credit when talking about these guys?

How and why would a fan of the cowboys want to debate this? Look no further than their respective college/hs careers. I could understand the Lions fan coming to me arguing how much better Barry would have been with 22s line....that line that was not with him in hs and college...these guys are HOF studs that were the core of the 90s dynasty. Shame on you for this; opinion or not. Debate why Haley is not in the HOF or worthy don't debate on the core of this teams last three titles. That is all we as fans have to sour any of that is wrong imo....wrong.

That's about right. They all were nice players who had an offensive steel wall line that got no triplet credit. Great offense Solid defense. Those were amazing years. I especially like Michael game. All pro. Emitt had heard. And Troy had the glue to keep the team together.

They are one of the greatest at there positions because they are the triplets. They each benefited each other like a match made in heaven. There known as the triplets, not a " rb, wr, and qb who won 3 superbowls."

Furthermore, the fact that they all put winning above all personal numbers says it all.

Emmitt defaulted into numbers history because, well, one of them had to.
Aikman cared only about Super Bowl wins. Irvin too. Emmitt as well.

You could argue it should have been "quadruplets" with novacek. But he was a transplant.

3 SB in 4 years? That is great not over rated at all. Troy, Mike and Emmitt not over rated a bit and while they got a lot of the limelight there were others on those teams who made great impact for the success of those teams, which if anything they are the ones who are under rated. When it was time to step up and get it done the Dallas Cowboys to a man stood up and helped bring glory to this franchise.

Not maybe. You hit the nail on the head.

Now, ask yourself (general question to the ones who named either of three overrated).

In their heyday, did you doubt either one of them coming through when they had to... When they needed to....?

Nope!

I agree, it anything there were guys on those teams whom I feel were under rated. guys like jay novacek, Moose, woodson and others who as I mentioned when we needed people to step up and get it done they did, not all of them HOF players but they played like stars when the team called on them.

no way do i take young over aikman or barry over emmitt

I have always believed if Jimmy hadn't left, Young would be considered in the same way Marino is.
The Johnson-led Cowboys stymied Young. He was always flustered and couldn't beat us.
Then we let that clown Barry Switzer on board and his team gave up three turnovers giving the Niners a 21-0 lead, and despite a brilliant comeback, we couldn't dig out of that hole.

I know people may think this is football sacrilegious, but I would take Aikman over Young too. And Emmitt over Barry.

All you have to know about why Aikman >than Young was witnessed when the 49ers finally won one with Young. The whole "monkey off my back" thing.... could you ever envision Aikman doing that? Those were the actions of a guy who had major doubt in his OWN mind. And I agree that if Johnson stays Young never sniffs the Super Bowl. In fact, if Switzer doesn't get the penalty in the 94 Championship game we might have come back to win that one too.

This question to me is like asking who was more overrated in her prime ...

Salem Hayek
Paula Patton
Catherine-Beta Jones

Uh, Selma. No, wait, Paula. I take that back, Catherine.

Uh, can I say "None of the above"?

Me too. The feeling that you were the best and despite the score, you KNEW you were going to win.

Now, it's like no matter whether we're in front - even by a big margin - you dread that we're going to lose in the end. And your gloom is ultimately verified and confirmed. :(

I was thinking that too. The Johnson-led Cowboys had Young and the Niners scared to death. And they played like it too.

There likely will never be a coach like Johnson or a team like those Cowboys. Coaches just don't talk that way, and then have teams that can back it up.
Buddy Ryan tried it, but his teams were flawed.
Johnson talked the talked and his team walked the walk and then some.
Ah, as Archie and Edith Bunker sang, "Those were the ddddaayyyysss!"

Lol... Jimmy went all Nostradamus on them!

He and Steve should have NEVER got that Super Bowl vs chargers. I still get mad thinking about it.

I swear that they send Jerry a Christmas card every year thanking him for Super Bowl 29... Especially steve.
