If college had a real playoff system, it would be gold. uBut as for now, the pros are better by far.

I prefer the NFL. The BCS just kills college completely for me. Plus the sports teams at my college suck.

College hands down. For the same reason I hate College post season, I hate the pro regular season. A 8-8 team can make the super bowl.

The Pros atmosphere is pretty lame at a game. Who let the dogs out and Nelly? In college it's the war drums and fight songs, wild student section, coed hotties and fans know when to get loud.

College without its atmosphere doesn't even touch the NFL.

They don't even have a real championship game.

College. The atmosphere is unrivaled and I have a vested interest in my team, which I can't say about the pro game. The fanbase is a lot more unified in that the majority of the people in the stands are alums or current students and it's cool knowing the players on the field are also current or former classmates.

Plus it's great to see the kids play just for the love of the game and love for their school. There aren't any (big) egos among the players that supercede the school and once you're an alum, you're allegiance is set for life to your school. I hate how pros are just hired guns and just after the money.

That's exactly what I mean. If college had a real playoff series, it would be golden. Can you image the atmosphere of a collegiate playoff game between two rivals to get to the championship? Ohio st. vs Michigan with the winner going to the championship? You think home field advantage would mean something then? The "BSC" series robbs the fans of those moments every year. Until it is fixed, college football will never reach its potential.

The best analogy is major league baseball to minor league baseball. College football is a developmental league for professional football players. The game is played by players with less talent, and that less talent is spread between 10x more teams.

Some of the offenses run in college football are unwatchable, in my humble opinion, the "option" offense being the prime offender.

There is no playoff system, no tournament, just a combination of computerized and media rankings which are often not relevant and definitely overlook smaller schools.

I did watch the game while I was in college myself, and got caught up in the emotion of the game. That was fun. But unless you have a college-age son, it's definitely not my cup of tea.

Different strokes for different folks?

There is nothing like college football when it is a good rivalry.

Michigan vs. Ohio State. Auburn vs. Alabama. Oklahoma vs. Texas. Florida vs. Georgia. Army vs. Navy. USC vs. Notre Dame. Arizona vs. Arizona State. Miami vs. Florida State. Grambling vs. Southern.

The bands.

The stadiums with up to 106,000 people packed in.

The tailgates.

The hatred.

No paid athletes, just pure love of the game and pride on the line.

Fowler, Herbstreit, & Corso.

Headgear.

We're Coming, To Your City.

I love the Cowboys more, but College Football is a better all around game when the passion is high.

I agree with this. I love the NFL and the Cowboys, but its a close second to college ball. Especially the "No paid athletes" part.

Pros and its not even close.

Most college teams have the talent of a A or AA baseball team. Even the best is going to be a AAA where only a few are major league worthy. I am even less of a fan of high school games for this reason.

Its even moreso apparent on TV. I will admit that a college game is a cool environment and used to try to catch a Longhorns game to satisfy my need for nostalgia but a mic picking up crowd noise does not translate that much less the talent on the field.

Then there is the body that is the NCAA. Longhorns football brings the school tens of millions of dollars if not more. The student athletes receive a scholarship that equates to ~30k a year. Its base usury and I refuse to support it even by proxy.

I hear a lot of verbage about how an education is priceless. Maybe thats true in your world but in the real world when you go to college they give you a bill. When they feed you and house you there is a cost associated with it and they charge you. They most certainly put a price on it. Its a price that goes up year after year as well.

Most of these guys will never see the NFL so essentially they get a pittance and memories for a broken body and $30k. It makes me sick.

Then of course there is the BCS. We all know how that goes.

I am not a fan of Goodell but he did propose something that has my full support: a developmental league. Most people hear this and cringe. NFLE was a disaster but Goodell said some things that give me hope. First and foremost would be that this would not be an attempt to market the league because make no mistake that was what NFLE was.

The market for it is obvious. The attention that Vince McMahons abortion, the XFL, received was evidence of that and quite frankly the fact that we have people posting on this forum daily with the season more than 3 months away speaks just as loud. I would kill to watch a real live football gamne right now. If it was the Cowboys farm team I would lay waste to the countryside.

The fact that the players would receive the right to negotiate a fair contract on their own behalf would just be icing on the cake.

I can't believe Ed McMahon having an abortion didn't make the news and what it has to do with football I have no idea.

Not to turn this into a political debate, but if congress or whoever forces them to create a playoff system it will surely raise my interest in it a lot.

I prefer college football to the pros for several reasons...

1: The NFL is nothing more than a glorified business. While I love watching the Cowboys, the NFL has too many guys who are just out for the paycheck and don't really play balls out every play. The college game is made up mostly of guys who know they have no shot at making money playing football and are doing it because they love the game.

2: The atmosphere. They arent even comparable. College football stadiums are so much louder and more intense than NFL stadiums, and the fans are so much more rabid.

3: The traditions and rivalries, which are almost non-existent in today's NFL, are still the driving force behind college football.

And if the NCAA ever implements a college football playoff system, it would instantly become the biggest and most watched sporting event of the year outside of the Super Bowl.

And College football isn't?

Puhlease.

They don't even name a legit champion for money reasons.

Also a lot of the good players will tank their bowl games too just so they wont be hurt for the draft.

Its not like you have a bunch of guys playing for the purity of the sport. You have some that do that at the College level but you also have some that do that @ the NFL level as well.

NFL players play just as hard if not harder than College players.

I am a lifelong Cowboys fan and fan of the NFL. I still prefer it to college football, but in recent years I am becoming more and more a college fan. Which do you prefer as a whole and why?

I love the Cowboys and will watch them over any other game pro or college other than the Cowboys I would have to say I get more enjoyment out of the college games in large part because it is not about the money the vast majority of college players know that when their time is up in college they will no longer play the game they do it because they love it
