The season is too long (too many phases) for there to be only one key signature moment. I voted for the Austin TD vs. Kansas City because it was the first.

Free's downfield block during the Jones TD run vs. the Eagles might be the most emblematic moment of the season, though. ... A guy doing his absolute best to help put his team over the top. This year's team is all about pulling the team together, team work, working together for team goals, etc. I think this spirit can be seen in Free's contribution to Felix's run.

Game 1 vs Giants. Romo singlehandedly loses game with interceptions. He starts to REALLY change from that point on.

This - an additional lightbulb went on that day which potentially takes him from extremely good to great

Austin's overtime TD vs Chiefs

I think that play may have saved the season. If we'd gon into the bye week with an L to the Chiefs....just wow.

The Chiefs game was probably the turning point in the season, BUT I feel that the Falcons game was the first all-around team win in many years...that's the game that I feel built the foundation.

3-13-DAL 29 (9:55) (Shotgun) T.Romo pass incomplete deep middle to R.Williams (D.Williams). DAL-R.Williams was injured during the play.
This is too funny!...and really makes you wonder "what if..."

That was an amazing play. I was on the phone with my brother during that play, just commenting on what was going on, and then to see Free leading the way for Felix was an unbelievable play. That is the kind of stuff that lets you know that there is a winning feeling to this team.

Miles Austin's overtime TD and 250-yard day completed his breakout, which set the tone for the entire offense the rest of the way.

Free vs. the DB wasn't a fair fight either :laugh2:

The turning point of the season has to be the pass where Roy injured his rib before the KC game. This forced the Cowboys to start Austin, and the rest as they say is History.

It wasn't just Williams getting injured. Romo went at Hurd twice on the goalline against Denver. Either of those two are complete and Hurd is Romo's target in KC......

I think it wasn't a play at all. To me it is a toss up. Either the waiving of Terrell Owens or Keith Brooking angrily standing up to Steve Dennis and the rest of the DFW media.

What's it going to be then, eh?

It would be easy to say the Chiefs game, but we were on the ropes after the Chargers game and Ware's actual return and dominating performance against the Saints is what I believe started the momentum. I don't think it was one play in that game, just the fact he returned and it set things in motion.

I don't think Brooking's tirade had that much effect, it just strengthened the resolve. We still lost after that point. Again, I think Ware's return from the scary injury is the catalyst really set everything in motion.

Yep. If not for that Austin play, the book would have been slammed shut. Instead, it was the defining moment of a player who in one game emerged as a budding star. It also signified the rebirth of our offense. Everyone was too ticked about almost losing to the Chiefs to care, but it was the biggest moment of our season in hindsight.

We won the division by 1/2 game fellas, that win against the Cheifs basically was for the division title, we just didnt know it at the time.

how could it be austins td against the chiefs. That is a game we were suppose to win anyway. I know it brought on a needed win that lead to a streak, but ware sack on brees solidified us as a team to be reckoned with. It proved to the team not only that we can beat the "elite" but we too are elite.

I think alot of us think that game was the turning point because we were 2-2 at the time and the Cheifs were winless at the time and most fans were beyond pissed that the game went into OT to begin with.

If we would have lost that game, I feel the wheels would have come off and Wade probably would have been fired due to the bye week following that game.

So that win not only saved our season but probably saved our coach as well.

That is a great point right there. I thought something had changed in Romo from that point on. But, from a team standpoint, for me, it was the overttime Austin TD in KC. Just seemed something started to build right there. They all struggled bigtime through that game.

I believe the Kansas City Chiefs Game was the defining moment.

There was a ton of pressure on the Cowboys not to lose that game and the "Fire Wade" movement was in full swing. I remember Jerry Jones getting on The Fan a few days before the game and said, "Fans should be PO'ed about how the team has been performing" and I believe there was a real chance Wade Phillips could have been fired.

We ended up going 5-1 after that game and the Miles Austin Era began.

Your post reminded me of something else from that game. Romo went down the field at the end of the game and ALMOST led us to a score. THAT "Almost" was big to me then and still is now. It showed me that Romo could go back to his scrambing ways and make thing happen. I thought to myself, "Tony is going to be alright".

I was actually at that game and was soooo mad. I flew from NY to Atl to Dal and back in the span of 24 hours so it angered me that he did that.

But you know what... if thats what it took to right this ship and have finish up with a record that has little or no facade is more important to me. The 13-3 record was full of facades. Couple of games we should have lost, but won led to false sense of entitlement in this teams eyes I believe.

Do we beat the Chiefs?

Does Miles make it to the ProBowl?

Who knows, but to me this one play defined the season.
