It took some time before the 90's OL took off. Tuinie was not great starting his career, Nate was constantly over weight. This group I think has the potential to be much better. They are still young pups.

I do think the 90's OL was deeper but then FA was not in play for the early part of the 90's

I think the triplets help make the 90's line, which does have its dominant players in Allen and Williams.
The 2014 line got help from its version of the triplets, but TSmith, Frederick and Martin were good from the start.

I used to enjoy Williams kicking Reggie White's butt.
However, the #$%@^ accident

We can thank Erik for the 'Hands to the face' penalty. ;)

He drove Reggie nuts with that move..........took the man out of his element.

I thought he did one to Williams too, I may be wrong. I definitely remember the Allen one, that was insane

Oh he probably did, but I've never witnessed a 300 lb man tossed like a rag doll 'til I saw what he did to Larry.

He only did that once, BTW.

Shaped Larry's career.

More than any other position, an offensive line is a unit. The 90's crew was a better unit, and they were a LOT meaner. Our current line has more talented individuals, so there's a chance they can become a better unit, but they've got a long ways to go. Plus none of them have the nastiness of Williams and Gogan - those two were as nasty as they come!

This is a trick question.

They are like night and day.

Technical versus nasty/beat you up and steal your woman.

1990s for certain. They did not take prisoners and hurt the opposition. Broke them and made them humble.

This group is more technical and lacks the nasty quality.

Not downing this group at all, they are great in their own way.

I feel for fans who have not had a chance to watch live games with them.

There was like an audible in unison grunt as the five of them would fire off.

It was not just the hands. He would use his head too...take that helmet and go right underneath their hands into their chins if they weren't careful.

Williams was no technician, but he knew about every "technical" way to be vicious. He made it an art form.

I used to love to see Reggie White and William Fuller cry after the games.

I will take our current one by a little.

Comparing best known years:
TSmith >> Tuinei
Collins < Allen
TFred > Stepnoski/Others (Step only there for a few years)
Martin > Newton by a little
Free << Williams (only for 3 years)

... Ducking for cover ...

I'll take the one we have. Not saying this one is better, but the game has evolved from the game it was in the 90's. I'm not sure that Ol would have the same level of success in this era football. Not saying they wouldn't; just saying I'll go with what I know: This ol is great in this era of football and should only get better with continuity.

Right now 90s, this 2016 oline has a lot more to prove before being decalared the best. Ask me again in 2 to 3 years

I would give Newton the edge over Martin right now and Stepnoski over Frederick. However, I do think both Martin and Frederick have the potential to be the better players, but they have to prove it over a longer period of time. A few years from now it may be a push.

Depends on how Collins turns out and what happens at RT.

Collins reminds me of Randal McDaniel. I think Tyron is far better than Tuinea and I would take Martin over Newton (Newton was inconsistent at times). I think it's a push between Stepnoski and Fred. But Erik Williams was by far and away better than Free (who I don't hate).

I always thought the 90's O-Line was overrated as run blockers. People really don't appreciate how great Emmitt was. The team simply didn't win without Emmitt and they won without Aikman. To me, the 90's line was underrated as pass blockers and overrated as run blockers. This line is probably the same, but I like their run blocking more than the 90's line. Getting 1,866 yards on 4.6 yards per carry out of Randle, McFadden, Turbin, Smith, Michael with Matt Cassel, Brandon Weeden and Kellen Moore at QB with no Dez is pretty exceptional. And if EE is as good as advertised and we can formulate a solid passing attack, it could be scary how good we run the ball in 2016 (provide the O-Line stays healthy).

The 1990s (prime) Cowboys OL could pass block.

The current Cowboy OL is somewhat surprisingly average at pass blocking.

I'm not sure Tyron is better than Flozell.

Yet.

Allen is probably the best OL of the ten.
Williams could have been top 2, but the unfortunately accident.
Outside Allen, I think the current OL clearly beats of 90's OL?

To me, Tuinei was above average only while TSmith is top 3 LT.
Step was top 5 C but only there for a few years, while TFred is top 2 C.
Newton was top 5 in my view, but Martin is top 2 to me.

Probably? Larry Allen is my pick for the best offensive lineman to ever play the game. There's a couple of others there with him, but NONE better.

I think Collins is gonna turn into an absolute monster. I mean, he already is. But with experience he's just gonna get better. I bet he becomes our second best lineman behind Tyron in 2 years tops. The man delivers pancakes to peoples' front doors.

With that being said, in a couple years with this line, with Collins getting better and better, with Zeke... people might have a different answer. But for now you gotta go with the 90s line that won you 3 chips.
