Obviously when we drafted Dez (see the Stephen on the phone epic thread)... Irvin draft was pretty sweet too, b/c we also got Ken Norton. Also rooted for Kevin Smith and Ron Francis.

I take the question as asking about more minor players that weren't stars. I'll say Golden Richards and Butch Johnson. I'd also throw Robert Newhouse in there. I don't think you can answer this question with the likes of Staubach, Aikman, Emmitt, Irvin, Randy White, Too Tall, etc. Everyone loved those types of players.

Aikman. I remember the OU game where he broke his leg against Miami. Followed him at UCLA. Watched the Cotton Bowl where he whupped up on Arkansas. Was so pumped that he was going #1 to the Cowboys. The rest is history.

Favorite player of all time is Dorsett, but was to young to follow him in college.

I was at that Cotton Bowl. If you recall he didn't do anything special until the third quarter. Then he found his tight end open up the hash marks, and toss a 30+ yarder to him. That pass was on a rope. I had seen him on TV before, but live and watching that rocket he launched sold me on him.

Currently I love me some Keith Smith. I love FB that hit hard and knock LB butts out of the hole.

Jimmie Jones was my far and away favorite players as a kid.

Roger Stabauch.

He went to the Naval academy and that was my ambition, though I ended up medically disqualified.

Also, he came in an underdog because he had to finish a full six year military commitment. I liked the way he refused to give up, scrambling around to make a play.

Roger was my hero when I was 15. He is still my hero 45 years later.

What happened to disqualify you?

If Justin Beriault could have got healthy I thought he was a lock to be a human Exocet missile. I loved the limited amount that we saw him play.

Besides some obvious players, I've always liked the Shark (Kenny Gant), Jimmie Jones and David Lafleur. I was also a big time Henson supporter before Romo became Romo. And for some reason I really wanted Bruce Carter to finally "get it". I'm sure I can come up with a dozen more if I took the time to think about it.

MD26 the ringleader of Thurman's Thieves..

Danny White coined the name in 1985 .

Ron Fellows
Dennis Thurman
Michael Downs
Everson Walls

Was fun to watch Everson and Michael patrol the secondary with their ball hawk skills. Michael was a very smart player and a very solid tackler....Both undrafted free agents.

Jeff Heath (though the general impression of Heath seems to be changing), Damien Wilson.

I used to really like Durant, too. Underrated football player, but a good athlete.

The flip side, I never liked Rolando McClain, and I don't really like Elliott. Though Elliott is obviously a hell of a football player.
I gotta agree with you on Elliott. If he wasn't on the Cowboys, I know I would hate him but he is so good.
