Which Position Do We Draft In First Round

I hope we trade down for value, there are so many needs. We need two guards, a center that can anchor the line. I do like Kowalski though...especially with an off season or two. We also need another DE for rotation. We need two good corners and a better free safety. It wouldn't hurt to bring in a full back to compete as well. Bottom line, even with FA and the draft next year, it will NOT be enough to make a full change.

Pretty much my thoughts, though not on the trade down part. But position by position, not in any order. I dont care where they come from, FAy, draft UDFA. just get ball players with smarts.

Take the best player available - any position except QB, RB, or OT.

One possibility that looks attractive is OG DeCastro. Until our OL becomes a force, our offense will continue to be inconsistent.

Fixing the pass rush helps fix the secondary.

OG DeCastro if he is there. You look at the Saints offense and the one thing that stands out is how long Brees has to throw the ball. If we can get Tony a better line then it will make everyone better, from our RB to the WR. With the 2nd round pick I would then go CB/Dline.

Flip RT/LT
LT- Smith
LG- DeCastro (1st rounder)
C- Best avail one on current roster
RG- Nicks (If we can get him in FA, otherwise Arkin,Costa, Nagy, etc)
RT- Free

You have to improve in the trenches. The secondary is bad but a great pass rush will make any secondary better. Plus with Scandrick and Sensabaugh returning, those 2 will still be out there messing up coverages so 1 great rookie CB won't be able to fix that.

This team has not drafted DLine (I count OLB as DLine in the 3-4) in the 1st or 2nd round since 2007 and it's starting to show. We need to get new impact makers up front.

Quarterback. Tony Romo isn't clutch and neither is the defense and I believe should be consider in the first round either luck or heisman trophy winner. Also trade Miles Austin while we can sign Deshean Jackson and Laurent Robinson. Conerback is our biggest issue along with a true nose tackle in the middle.

This was exactly my line of thinking too. My one concern is having Smith and DeCastro lining up on the same side. A lot of youth and inexperience there.

I voted OG due to Decastro.

I would target Cb if Decastro is off the board.

CB.

this is a deep draft for OGs as I understand.

We can still get a starting OG in Round 2, imo.

We can get a starting quality CB in Round 1.

And in Round 3 we should be able to draft a starting Center.

There, three starters with the first 3 picks.

In Rounds 4 - 7 we should add an ILB, DL, another CB/safety, and a TE since Bennett is likely gone.

Trade up for Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU. Next year draft his boy the Honey Badger.

Is Clai that much better than Kirkpatrick?

QB- because I would make a better GM than 99% of you.

(And this has nothing to do with any deficiency with Romo, at all)

when will we learn?

it is all about front 7 pressure and OL (at least that is if we want to be a good team)

I thought about that and I agree. I still would give it a try because Smith seemed to be our best O-Lineman and did it without an offseason. DeCastro is coming from Stanford, so I am hoping he is a faster learner (playbook/comfortable w/pickups). The other way would be to put Nicks at LG, but if were not able to land him then I would take my chances with inexperience having DeCastro than Nagy/Arkin at LG.

Most of us agree on the need to upgrade interior OL and also address secondary (CB) and/or DL. Would love to see us address OL problems (OG/C) in FA (not paying huge bucks) like we did with Kosier & Colombo during Parcells' era. We could then use the draft to seriously upgrade our defense. But's way to early to finalize our draft plans until we know whose available in FA.

My prediction based on Jerry Jones' past drafts:

1. A tweener defensive end we project at OLB.
2. An athletic corner that fell in the draft because he will need some coaching on his technique to play in the NFL.
3. An athletic player who played_______ (fill in the blank) and as an underclassman was viewed as a possible first rounder, but got injured and missed most of this season. The injury probably happened during a fight at a strip joint at 3 a.m., but he was apparently an innocent bystander who was only there to solicit funds for an orphanage.
4. An athletic small school QB project that will be slotted at corner, or safety, or wide-reciever or return guy, but his measurables are "off the chart."
5. A QB that probably would have been undrafted but his uncle is Jerry Jones' third cousin's best friend, and the NFL is his only hope for employment because working at McDonalds takes too much thinking.
6. A big slow-footed, dim-witted offensive lineman from North Southwestern Missouri Valley-Langtry State College.
7. A "special teams demon" who is always around the ball, plays with reckless abandon and is projected to be a starter as a gunner, but also is capable of being the backup deep snapper, holder, punter, and kicker.
