Which Position Do We Draft In First Round

Romo isn't clutch...WOW. He should friggin demand to be traded, guy has to carry this damn team yr after yr with no defense to keep his leads and no OL to grind it out to run out the clock. And then when it is crunch time in Dec his no talent OL is toast and his defense is even worse.

Romo is probably the only thing keeping this team from being the Colts, no joke.

I think we should trade Ware while he is still worth something and I love Witten but he is slowing down and the time has come to get a freak at the TE position. I wanted Gramm from the Saints when he came out...oh well.

It is so hard to do this because the combine is so far away, but...

If the draft were held tomorrow, we would have no shot at Clairborne, probably not one at Kirkpatrick either. Clairborne will be that pipe dream player that people hold out hope for like they did Patrick Peterson last year.

On to the realistic candidates. Dallas looked at two positions in the early rounds recently where they either could not move up or ended up going in a different direction because of the value on the board. It seems that, prior to the combine at least, they will end up with the best players on the board at those two positions when pick number 14 comes up.

Interior OL:
There have been several times in the last few seasons that Dallas has tried to go after an interior lineman only to see them picked before they could get there (Unger to Seattle, Iupati to San Fran). If Decastro is there, then Dallas will most likely pull the trigger. He has been touted as the best interior prospect to come out since Iupati. Very highly thought of, technically sound, pulls well, good pass blocking and awesome in the run game (something Dallas desperately needs). On top of that, he plays with a mean streak.

Defensive End:
Dallas loved JJ Watt last year If Tyron Smith was gone, Watt would have been the pick. As such, DE Courtney Upshaw will most likely be on their radar. At Bama, he played in a 3-4 scheme against the top talent in the College ranks. I think he will end up valued right around where Dallas picks after the combine.

So there you go, my way too early prediction is Decastro as their top target or Upshaw.

An alternate scenario is that both are off the board so they trade down to position themselves for Peter Konz (probably early twenties right now).

I picked cornerback, but I hope they draft the best player available.

I voted Guard because I think DeCastro will be huge difference maker for the offense, but if he is gone already, I wouldn't mind getting one of the top cornerbacks on the board.

I second that.

While watching what G DeCastro is doing against Oklahoma St. right now, I'm am even more convinced he needs to be our pick at #14. Do whatever it takes to get him.

It obviously depends on who is available but I really like OG Decastro. But I don't think Jerry will draft an OL in the first two years in a row. And with all the focus on the secondary I think Jerry will fixated there. Problem is that Claiborne and Kirkpatrick look like the only two CB's worth taking in the top 15 and one or both will probably be gone when we pick.

But I think Jerry will force the pick and we'll end up with someone like Dennard of Nebraska.

OG DeCastro is playing RG. Tyron Smith is going to be moved to LT. He is a much better athlete then Free.
