Which position scares you the most on this current roster?

But you use sacks? When a sack can occur from coverage or 6 seconds after hiking the football.
I’m using a measurable statistic for pass rush. There’s a standard rule for what a sack is. And it is consistent, not subjective.

I’m confused so you are saying they don’t need pressure from the edges?
No. All teams need it to some degree of course.

Wha I am saying is that it is not the end-all, be-all component to have a successful defense.

Some of the best defenses in the league did not need to lead the league in that particular area. They succeeded because they played sound team defense, with everyone knowing their role and executing when called upon.

Well what championship defense managed to not get pressures? Because we can’t say that about Seahawks or Eagles….

Based on whose measurements? Which of the 100 different number of pressures are you referring to?
You said pressures are flawed? What about sacks? Seahawks had 47 sacks last year. Year prior Eagles had 41?

35 sacks from the Cowboys last year needs to improve.

You said pressures are flawed?
Yes. And you’re proving my point by not having a consistent source for them.

Proving that neither team had to have a dominating pass rush to have a top defense. That’s my point.

Sure it does. But 12 sacks (Seattle’s 47) over 17 games isn’t a whole lot.

And I think you would agree that simply being rid of Eberflus and his staff will lead to improvement in this area. Addition by subtraction.

Ok you’re moving goal posts I never said we needed a dominate pass rush. Im advocating for getting pressure from edge.

I would really be more comfortable with a veteran than counting on Ez coming back from major surgery and a rookie.
He did not have major surgery. In fact, it is a minimally invasive procedure.

I honestly don’t think sacks are going to be a huge priority for Parker’s defense.

They weren’t in Philadelphia last year with Fangio. They’re a ‘nice to have’, but not a must have.

The Eagles were middle-of-the-pack in terms of sacks, with their sack leader having just 6.5 for the season.

But their secondary was #8 overall, and they allowed the 5th fewest points in the league.

Today’s best defenses are fundamentally sound, with players know their roles and assignments in all areas, rather than being overly reliant on any one player or group.

I think that’s what Parker is trying to build.
They did trade for Phillips at the deadline to try to upgrade their rush.

Gary was a stud. Gary for whatever reason didn’t look like a stud last year. And the fact he was gonna get cut signals what he is or what they thought he was. I think Eze is the key because of the untapped potential and his ceiling being a 10 sack guy. Whatever we get from Gary is bonus. Right now we have Gary and a bunch of guys who have never done it.
Gary should be an upgrade over Clowney, especially as a run defender.
