Which teams in the NFC do you think are better than us?

atlanta has strengthen an already good defense in the offseason.

their D was weak last year. and i think they have serious problems on offense. no threat at WR and an inconsistent QB. i think ATL is going the wrong direction

Atlanta won't even make the playoffs next year. Tampa has some talent but they're not a contender.

I truly believe that Dallas is the best team in the NFC right now. Carolina is a close second (depends what happens with their running back situation).

And, as crazy as this sounds, I think the Rams will win the NFC West this year. The Seahawks are overrated, one of the worst teams to play in a Superbowl in modern times. And what is the trend? I think teams that went to the Superbowl and lost have missed the playoffs the following year 5 straight times. Is it more?

Carolina has the most complete team and I'd call them the NFC's best right now.

From there it is a pick'em between Dallas, Seattle, and NY.

The next tier is Chicago, TB, MIN, WAS, ATL, PHI and AZ.

I see only Carolina as better than us ..... The Seahawks did not impress me last year.

If we have another great draft, we could be the best.

All NFC teams must fear Carolina. One of the best D-lines in football has gotten upgraded with the addition of Maake Kemoteau(?), a run stuffing monster. He powerfull and can take on two blockers. With a dangerous line like that, offenses will have to bring in TE's to help block.

They have a good offense with only two players, Jake Delhomme and Steve Smith. How crazy is that? If they fix that running game possibly with DeAngelo Williams in the draft, they could be very dangerous. I'm stating the obvious here, I know.

I fear your Cowboys now with T.O. WIth T.O., Bledsoe doesn't have to wait for a WR to get open. T.O. will run all over the field, even the middle, and no one is as good as he is at getting spearation, except Chad Johnson. Get Lawson, and Bill Parcells will have the Defense he had in the 80's with the Giants. Cowboys are definitely up there. But not up to Carolina. Who is?

The Commanders may have finally gotten free agency right, bringing in young guys instead of over-the-hill Hall of Famers. With Gregg Williams as DC, the Skins can just plug holes with UDFA's and instant top 5 defense.

As for Seattle, it remains to be seen if the post Superbowl doldrums will affect these guys as it has past Superbowl losers.

"on paper" doesn't mean a thing to me. So (going by last year's actual performance):
Giants
Washington
Chicago
Tampa Bay
Carolina
Seattle

The only two we need be concerned about is the Giants and Washington. Win the division and we're in. Anything can happen in the playoffs and THATS where we need to shine once we're in. But you gotta GET THERE first....

BTW, I think that there will NOT be a wildcard from the NFC East this year. Either WIN the division, or sit at home for the playoffs.

Sorry, what does this mean? If on paper has nothing to do with it, I'm assuming you're premise is that it gets settled on the field. Then how can TB, Chicago, and Carolina be better? Is it just because they made the playoffs? Because that would be an on paper distinction between us and them too. It wasn't settled on the field... against us anyway.

You have to give some credence to "on paper" ratings. Obviously no one knows what FA and draft moves are going to pan out, but to discount the moves we've made compared to other teams, and say it has to be settled on the field is naive... plus it's no fun:D

That's what I am saying.

Because they won MORE and lost LESS than we did. They finished the season stronger than we did. Until we can prove (on the field) that WE can do that, they are better than we are.

Those two statements contradict each other. The second proves the first false (or highly questionable at best).

Not naive...but true. Otherwise, why would they play the games? Why not just declare the winner after the offseason?

Sorry. I thought that this was a thread for honest opinions. Not a joke thread.

I refuse to walk into this question since it's pretty obvious the majority of the opinions on this board think we're a top team and don't accept any different opinions.

memo to you, Atlanta was terrible on defense last yr...Abraham is a good player when he's on the field and Crocker was a nice addition, but Milloy is 9and has been) done for awhile now

and they still have the worst passing QB in the league as their starter

David

We still have an unproven OL.

Will the 3-4 D live up to the hype.....will our young talent on D step up this next season and play to our expectations.

Will we fill the void at FS and OLB.

Until I see it happening on the field I would have to say Carolina, Seattle, and maybe NY are ahead of us going into next season.

I'm excited about this season, but I am with reservations and tempered hopes. While anything can happen, we still have major holes.

This is my theory on Dallas and the skins. When there is big news in dallas (dallas get BP) they do well and live up the hype to a degree. The skins tend to shrink n times like that and i think that can be proven in the last 2 years alone. But, this year is a little different for the skins as many aren't buying what the skins have done and going to do etc.

Based on that theory, I see the skins and dallas being very close with the skins getting the edge mainly because of coaches and the direction we are heading in.

Top three teams in NFC

Seattle, Carolina, Skins- with healthy QB

2nd tier- Dallas, NYG (Im not sold on them but based on last year, ill put them), Chicago

3rd tier- TB (i see their D getting older and taking a hit), Atl, Philly, Minny, Rams.

EDIT: But honestly, I dont mind what the media says about boys being superbowl bound, and I dont mind putting the cowboys in top 3 instead of skins because I can see it going either way no matter how much I hate it. Plus, I want the media and of course you guys proven wrong because I see the skins going further than the cowboys.

That's weird. In the light, if you look at it just right, it looks like you typed AZ, like in Arizona, at the end of that last sentence.

Tampa has a weaker QB and also has major OL questions which they have addressed by ... signing away Torrin Tucker from Dallas? They got beat at home by Washington in the playoffs.

Atlanta gained John Abraham and now they are an elite team? I can see that happening if White and Jenkins step up so I'll buy that for now.

I'd say Carolina looks tough as does Philly. Washington and New York went 2-1 against us last year but I think we have their number this year.

Seattle lost Hutchinson and gained Peterson. That means they got worse because Peterson wasn't that good last year. I think we're as good as any team out there, AFC or NFC.
