Yeah but the local media would've spun this as Cowboys locker room in turmoil and about 60% of our fanbase would've bought into it.

There would be a 25 page thread on it and the TO apologists would've been saying I told you so.

The difference is Brooking isn't a me player

...be true what everyone is feeling good about is that someone on the Cowboys cares enough about the performance of the team to get in someone else's grill.

It acknowledges that the state of the team was not conducive to team play and accountability.

Small things like this are the baby steps to transforming the culture of the team and cheers to those players who have bought in...we fans are the beneficiaries of the courageous work of the team heavies.

absolutely true statement!!!! I am guessing Scandrick or Jenkins

If it was Newman, that would have been crazy.

And I do think it was Newman.

Have no fear, it will eventually come out, maybe not as soon as we would like but it will come out and maybe accidentally!!!!!

to be clear, he didn't say Brooking leveled the guy or hit him with his fist even....all he said was that Brooking didn't say anything because he had to get ready for the next snap, but that after the snap, he went back and popped the guy upside the head...that probably means a head slap on the side of the helmit or the back of the head to make a point...it was probably followed by some choice words about learning from mistakes instead of mouthing off, but that part is only a guess.

I sent a message to a member of the team and asked. I have to know.

Collinsworth mentioned during the game that Brooking hit somebody in the secondary after mouthing off during practice. Who do you think it was?

My guess would be Scandrick.

That is a sign of being a leader.

:starspin

It wasn't a starter. Leaders know you never make examples of those you cannot afford to expend.

He went Jethro Gibbs on the player

"never slap someone in the face, that is disrespect. slap em in the back of the head, knock some sense into em"

starters are expendable......TO, Ellis, Pac Man were all starters and all became expendable after the season.

it wasnt over my head...you made it seem as if all 22 starters are not expendable. I disagree.

I still remember Burnett having to yell at Scandrick in that one Giants game. I'll take him as the one who got mouthy.

Yep, my money is on Newman: he proved against the Lions a few years ago his bark is alot worse than his bite. Love his talent but he needs to shut up.

I am sorry, but I don't see Jenkins or Scandrick being mouthy. At least not yet. Jenkins was the guy who dedicated himself to improving and Scandrick has never struck me as being that guy when he isn't playing well.

You all are forgetting that Ken Hamlin mouthed off to someone in downtown Seattle to the point that he got his face caved in, missed a lot of one season, and was nearly killed. He has always been known to run his mouth.

Brooking letting Hamlin have it would send a message to this team. A message that might eventually end up with the defense becoming a dominant one before the season was over. Kinda like what happened with the defense by the end of the season.

So I made it seem like Brooking potentially hit a starter that could have escalated to something that got blown way out of proportion?

Jimmy Johnson never cut a STARTER to make a point and it would be foolish for Brooking to attack a starter to make a point, if there is any validity in the story. The risk/reward is slanted too heavily towards the risk.

I like Brooking, I like him a lot but I am pretty sure he didn't hit a starter because the starter would not have backed down and we would have heard about it long before last night. Scissor-gate comes to mind. Is that simpler enough for you?

Foolish premises usually leads to foolish results. See above for exhibit A.

Newman is a defensive leader on the team and other leaders don't attack leaders. Can you imagine the rift that would create?
