Sean Payton still has a great reputation in addition to his self-respect and dignity. He has no reason to flush it all down a toilet.

He knows Jerry well.

He's not going to coach the Cowboys....never was.

If Payton is our coach, I hope he drafts QB Will Levis, Kentucky. This guy is the next Justin Herbert.

Daks next 2 years cap figures are 108mm and 89mm. dont think we will look qb till then.
remember Payton also saying he likes and wants to work with Dak

Beat me to it. Everybody ready to cough up a 1st (or more) for this plan?
I like Payton but not for a pick and not for win now mode. If it was for a rebuild and we arent giving up a top 10 im all for it, if not Id love to see us get a hungry college coach.

Here we go again with people thinking the Saints are going to be able to demand multiple high picks when they aren't actually paying him under the contract that reserves his rights.

They are NOT going to bring him back, and they will not be able to refuse him the right to work by demanding outrageous compensation for his rights. It's It's bad look and not done.

Please try to understand this folks.

If he wanted to jump teams immediately, different story. After this year, way different. After 2023, he is basically a free agent.

And no one has ANY idea what was worked out when that contract was signed. Wasn't as if he left on bad terms and they are going to refuse what the guys wants to do.

Payton departed the Saints with years left on his contract. If he returns to the NFL in any team capacity, the contract picks up where he "retired" with the Saints.

If Payton is not working in the Saints organization, the contract is not running. NO is within their rights to demand compensation for him. They can block him from working for any other team.

So you're saying that they can refuse to bring him back, not pay him, and also demand compensation that effectively prohibits him from working again, and will think that's a good look for them, and wouldn't involve legal action?

I have no clue why anyone thinks the Saints would try to pull that.

MM is walking dead

Depends on how long Dak is out and what the team does while he's out. If he's not able to come back before 6-8 games (a real possibility) and the team is something like 0-8 or 2-6, Mike will get a pass because "well, he didn't have a good quarterback for half the season, he couldn't do much without Dak".

lmao..reputation and dignity? Hold up....what about the Gregg Williams Bounty gate stuff?THE SAINTS WERE PENALIZED DRAFT PICKS! Sean was in charge. He and Mickey Loomis ran the show. What about when Sean was suspended for 1 full year? What about the pain pill fiasco/investigation? My Gawd, he won 1 SB in what, 10 years? Who does that sound like? MIKE MCCARTHY! I think the 2 guys may be one in the same. I will admit, right now ANYTHING seems like an upgrade from MM. Sean will be hands on, unlike MM. But not so sure the end result will be any better.

So we already know Pollard is not an every down back so why use the 5m you save cutting Zeke to resign him when you are more likely to find a Pollard in the 4th or 5th round. Right now the team has holes at the WR position, holes on the OLine, need starting level players at every level of the defense, and with that being said using a day 1 or day 2 pick on a RB feels like a waste.

Enough with the "carry the full load" back nonsense. Thats how we got into this problem in the first place.

Should be a RB by committee with 2 and 3 backs taking the carries. Pollard fits great into that role with his skill set and big play ability. IF he wants to much then move on.

We do NO have holes at the WR position when Gallup gets back. We just need to find a #3. Have all year to do that and see if one of these young receivers can be that.

so no chance at him.
Lol! That said, this is a QB heavy draft…weak at WR… where I think they ultimately go… reach for Boutte out of LSU hopping he’s another Chase. One precursory mock had 4 QBS going in 1st 4 picks, and at least one more in top 12 or so. Bama kid is only 5’11” 197# and described as “not as good a scrambler as Wilson” and was listed #2.

You do not have a number 1 WR, you have 2 2s. You have multiple holes on the OLine, you would lack an actual back who is a chain mover and a pass blocker (Pollard actually has a contradictory skillset in that he is best used in passing situations but he cannot pass block so he is a liability there). You also have holes in every level of the defense. You have holes on the OLine. You are likely going to be, going into next year, hoping your 2nd year TE who was a day 3 pick is going to be any good so likely a downgrade there as well. Wasting one of your day 1 or day 2 picks on a RB is a disaster.

Basically the team needs OLine, DLine, LBs, secondary, and if they can find it a number 1 WR with room to upgrade at TE and RB. That is a lot of needs to be using a high pick on a RB.

There is no way they are taking a QB buddy. Makes little sense and Jerry will never do it.

Anyone that thinks QB is the problem in Dallas is way off. NO QB is going to have success with a bad line. When Gallup gets back the WR room is fine. Need new RB's and fix the line.
