That is the approach the Cowboys have had for years. How is that working them ?

my thoughts exactly.

the team has a solid young LT now yo go get a plus RT and the OL can be a strength again in short order.

you don't wait to draft tackles. they go high.

Agreed.

People thinking some of these tackles wont go in the 1st round are kidding themselves.

It's a premium position.

Must I remind everyone Andre Smith went 6.

There isn't an Orlando Pace or Joe Thomas in the group but these tackles are pretty damn good.

Also, as a group this OL group is off the charts smart.

Carimi - Civil Engineering

Castanzo - Bio Chemistry

Solder - 3.9 HS GPA, 3.5 Biology, working towars Masters in Physiology.

Wizniewski - 3.9 GPA

Sherrod - 3.5 GPA Business

Love - Kiniesiology

Hairston - 35 Wonderlic

We could use some brains on the OL after being tops in offensive penalties for a while here.

I'm very aware Jordan rushed inside some at Cal.

Tell me about his production.

What part of "except Aaron and Justin Smith." didn't you understand.

That's 2 out of 100's over the years.

Work on your reading comprehension.

Lol, no I'm guessing you didn't know that, because if you did you wouldn't have brought up a contrast of Jordan and only "the best 3-4 DE's are use to playing in traffic as DT in college..." nonsense. Or at the very least not walked head-first into that contradiction had you known.

What about his production? He had 6 sacks and 12.5 TFL playing DE/DT last season. He also racked up 62 tackles, which is incredibly productive for a lineman in a 12 game season.

Me bringing up Aaron Smith and Justin Smith was simply using the irony of the players you named to dispell that crap notion you tried to forward previously "the best 3-4 DE's are use to playing in traffic as a DT in college vs on the edge as a college DE."

Oh, I only named two? How about Julius Peppers, Mario Williams, Justin Tuck, Carlos Dunlap, et cetera.

Let me guess, "drrrrrrrr, well thaaaaaaat's only six now!"

Yeah, my reading comprehension is just fine. The problem is when I'm reading crap.

This is usually where someone chimes in and tells us Gurode is smart because he got some award as an Ethnic Studies major at CU.

I'm not impressed. If it sounds like a jock major and walks like a jock major..........................

Listen Captain Short Bus I said "except for Aaron and Justin Smith.

If you can't understand maybe you should loosen up your helmet a little.

Peppers, Williams, Tuck, Dunlap.

You mean all those 3-4 DE's.

Damn......you got me you're too smart.

:lmao: :laugh2: :laugh1:

It's a little early for me to say who I don't like at number nine, but without doing a lot of research, I am a little unsure of the top corners, Peterson and Prince...Prince runs like a top corner but I'm not sure that talent is realized. Peterson, I just don't think is that special

Caught looking dumb, you show a better backpedal than Revis.

"waaa, I just said Aaron Smith and Justin Smith!"

What don't you comprehend? This is your mouth vomit below:

"I also don't like drafting big DE's, whether they be from a college 4-3 or 3-4 and playing them at 3-4 DE in the league. Those guys have zero success rushing the QB except for Aaron and Justin Smith."

Julius Peppers, Justin Tuck, Mario Williams, Carlos Dunlap....all "big" DEs and all successful.

Hey, rocks for brains, I'm still waiting for your proof regarding your "only the best 34 DEs." I'm sure you'll keep ignoring it, hoping it will just go away don't you.

Darn that 15 minute edit rule!

What did Deion like to say?

"Prime Time." "God told me not to pay my debts." ??? What is this, a quiz?

Fairley - Character

Peterson - Overrated; not good enough in coverage

Bowers - Doesn't rush the passer well enough

Quinn - Hasn't played in a year

Miller - Too small

Prince - Got beat in one game a couple times by an All American receiver; plus, too many people have trouble pronouncing his name

Jordan - 1st round DE's never do anything; we don't want another Spears

Any QB - Don't need one

Any OL - Not rated high enough by all the draft "experts"

Dareus - More of a 4-3 DT

JJ Watt - see Jordan

Ingram - Don't need him

Rahim Moore - You don't take a safety in the top 10; look at what happened when we drafted RW

AJ Green - SEC WR's never do anything in the NFL

Julio Jones - see AJ Green

Ryan Kerrigan - came from the same school as Spencer: don't want that kind of disappointment again

Adrian Clayborne - came from the same school as Vernon Gholston; don't want that kind of disappointment

Hmmm...doesn't leave much

That narrows it down to a kicker or punter. I`d rather just give up the pick to somebody who would appreciate it.

I don't think you understand what he is saying. He is saying that he doesn't think bigger guys who played end in college have a lot of success rushing the passer when they are playing 3-4 DE in the NFL with the exception of Aaron and Justin Smith.

Peppers, Tuck, Williams and Dunlap are all 4-3 defensive ends, so those aren't what he is talking about.

Players that are playing a 3-4 end position in the NFL that were big defensive ends in college (in either a 3-4 or 4-3 defense at college)

I understand what he's trying to get at. Unfortunately, his stream of thought is not cohesive.

Here's what he said:

"I also don't like drafting big DE's, whether they be from a college 4-3 or 3-4 and playing them at 3-4 DE in the league. Those guys have zero success rushing the QB except for Aaron and Justin Smith.

The best 3-4 DE's are use to playing in traffic as a DT in college vs on the edge as a college DE. They are use to interior pass rush in nickel whereas guys like Spears, Canty, Hatcher.................aren't."

So on the one hand he doesn't like "big" DEs, but on the other hand he makes the claim that the "best 3-4 DE's are use to playing in traffic as a DT in college.

Hmmm, maybe he's referring to the D-II DT's that played football with Akwasi Owusu-Ansah at IUP that are 6'2" 250 lbs, because D-I DT's are all going to be roughly 6'3-4ish and 280+lbs. Which by any standard would considered "big."

Further, his entire claim is muddled by the fact that Cameron Jordan played both DT and DE at Cal. A little fact he claimed he knew, but obviously didn't.

The irony is that Cameron Jordan fits the exact profile of the type of player he described and claims makes the best 3-4 DEs.
