I can't beleive that we're 13-3 with HFA throughout the conference, had the best year in 10 years, and seemingly 90% of the vibe around this team is negative.

We're doomed because Ireland is gone.

We're doomed because we lost to the Skins in a game we didn't try to win.

We're doomed because we didn't win every game in December by 14 points.

We're doomed because we already know the next four years of drafts will suck.

We're doomed because Wade has never won a playoff game.

And on and on and on.

Meanwhile, the local media are, for the most part, killing this team. I'm listening to Galloway and Engel today, and Galloway insists we did have a December collapse just like last year and that Wade is a "big doofus". Hate is giggling away at Bill taking so many of our personnel and Jerry screwing things up. Both agree that if Wade doesn't win a playoff game, he should be and will be fired.

It's insanity. I'm no pollyanna, and have criticized the team plenty of times during bad or disappointing years. But this year has been great, and there still seems to be as much negativity as when we were 5-11 and fighting over Carter and Hutchinson.

Can anyone explain this? I truly don't understand it. If this is what it's like during a 13-3 year that exceeds all expectations, what's there to look forward to in a year that's merely good?

It's nauseating, and enough to keep me away from sportsboards for a few weeks.

I did listen to Bradie James' interview after the Wash loss on DC.com today and got a sense of the teams perspective. It was pretty refreshing.

cause we haven't won a playoff game in a LONG time, so everyone's skeptical.
13-3 doesn't mean anything without a super bowl berth.

It's not 90%. Also, look at many of the people who are spreading the doom, they have low post counts, which should account for something. I do however see reasons to feel a little depressed about our personal being raided.

It's killing me too. I don't even check in on the boards as much anymore because I know what kind of posts I am going to see. I am half tempted to just stop showing up because there are too many 'misery loves company' posters. We'll see in two weeks I guess.

I have avoided espn tv and radio like the plague.

Just reading that wilbon article yesterday made me mad. I have a rule not to get mad when columnists take shots because they are supposed "experts" on every sport, which is impossible. So I take it with a grain of salt. Wilbon I really hate though.

and as far as galloway and engle are concerned, dont get upset over that. They need to talk in a way to get a reaction because if they dont, no one listens to them.

besides, have you heard jen engle talk about a football game right after watching it? Its embarrassing sometimes to listen to her, I am not sure what games she watches sometimes.

all the negativity directed at this team is to be expected I guess. Why the national media is insisting that washington, seattle and tampa are better than us just shows how lazy and careless they are.

All of these experts two weeks ago had minnesota coming to Dallas and overpowering us and beating us, now all those same analysts are bagging on minnesota and saying the exact same thing about washington.

We will see what they say this week when collins turns into a pumpkin and manning beats the bucs. Of course that will just mean the giants are going to beat us, but that is ok.

The key is to only listen when things are going well for the Boys.

When things are going well, the mediots say the right things to keep you hooked. When things are not going well the mediots throw out shock value to get you incensed.

Only listen when the spin is positive and you'll never be disappointed. :)

It does get a bit tiresome, but I try to keep it in perspective.

Fans are just worried the team is going to fall on its face and continue the playoff misery.

I'm not thrilled with how we've been playing, but I honestly think the team might be at greater risk of having a stinker in the post-season if we hadn't already had that game.

It's the same reason I've felt New England would lose in the playoffs if they managed the feat of an undefeated regular season. Sooner or later, it's going to happen and the officials won't be able to make enough calls to sway the outcome against a playoff offense.

We have a young team, but I like its mettle.

They know what's at stake and I believe they will respond.

I know that's the answer -- just stay away. But I enjoy talk radio and these boards, and have for years. I hate to give them up, especially when we're having such a great year.

And I won't quote it, but theebs -- I guess I don't expect the national guys to know what's what. I know Wilbon is superficial and Salisbury will say anything to pander to the audience he thinks is listening. But the locals? You don't have to cheerlead when the team is 8-8 -- no one would like that. But it's just as bad to try to convince everyone that this team/owner/coach sucks when the team is 13-3.

Good post.

The answer lies in the fact that sports reveal a lot about human nature. Most people are critical, negative and never satisfied as opposed to being positive, supportive and thankful. That's just the way it is and it won't change.

On a side note-who else is getting sick of all the hype and praise the Eagles are getting b/c of their strong finish, DESPITE their last 3 games being MEANINGLESS.

Yah-McFlabb failed to show up all season UNTIL these games became meaningless. But, en yet, all you hear from their fans and the national media is how he's *fully* back, how the Eagles have a championship team going into next season, blah, blah, blah.:laugh1:

At least for me, the negativety from the media I expect and can tollerate; embrace the hatred after all. What gets me is the supposed fellow cowboy fans spreading their negativety. If I wanted to hear that from fans I would go to a Commanders board, at least I would have a bunch of stuff to laugh at. Fairweather fans bother me and seem to be springing up quite a bit lately. It was better when we were in our 5-11 rutt quite honestly.

I feel the same way. I have not bothered with the stuff this week though.
