Corinne Bailey Rae. "Just like a star" sounds like something an angel would sing. It's so soft and soothing.

I don't listen to a lot of opera but when I do I try to listen to Maria Callas some. I also love Un bel di and La Momma Morta the last being my favorite. Some may recognize it as the song in Philadelphia. She may be the greatest dramatic coloratura ever.

Yea, I've worn out a "Roy Orbison: Black & White Night" DVD! ;)

"Running Scared" another 1 I'll play on a "loop" if I'm alone, working in the kitchen etc.

Female:

Tough, but I have to go with Whitney Houston. Her anthem from the '91 Superbowl brought tears to my eye the first time I heard it and is one of the best 90 seconds in music history along with the anthem Hendrix performed at Woodstock. She was as gifted a singer as there ever was and I was truly sad when she passed.

Male:

Ronnie Dunn and Don Henley, they defined their genres for over a decade and had songs that touched you on the deepest level. In addition, while he didnt have an "angelic voice" I consider Gary Allsn's voice one of the best in music because of how he conveys his awful life experiences in song.

...angelic I would have to vote - Karen Carpenter.

A soft and clear voice. Exactly what you think an angel would sound like if we could record an angel.

Might I add she came out in a time prior to heavily dubbed and metered sound recordings.

Her library of work is her real voice.
