I know good and well, regardless of that missed kick, i still want him. That missed kick probably will cost him, and not get him a new contract. Since he is a UFA, do you guys think we should sign Vandejagt as our #1 priority this offseason?

I do!!!!!!!!

Considering how our kickers looked this year, you bet I want him.

Any kicker who chokes like that in the playoffs I do not want. Even Jose Cortez wouldnt have missed that badly.

We will have to get Jose at the same time though.
Parcells probably won't want him -- kickoffs are very important to Big Bill and he won't want to carry two roster spots for PK.

not anymore.

Made every field goal and every extra point at home all year (untill today) and you don't want him?

I'll take him. I actually think it's a no-brainer.

i voted yes but just a kick like that can ruin a kickers career as its all mental with kickers

Whatever kicker we sign is likely to miss a crucial kick at some point. It happened yesterday to Adam Vinatieri, the most "clutch" kicker in NFL history. And it happened today to Mike Vanderjagt, the most accurate kicker in NFL history. I'd still gladly take either one of them, though. The chances of finding anyone better are virtually zero.

Anyone with half a brain would take either one of those guys.

...meets opportunity you have to take it.

The real issue for any football fan is how does your favourite team mitigate failures in kicking during clutch situations. It doesn't mean they won't happen, but rather how do you minimize the probability of failures.

AS I have argued before they need to focus on the coaching aspect.

Forget it. All he proved is when the big game comes down to him he will choke.

Announcers said Vanderjagt has best FG record in NFL history which means he rarely misses; so he missed a 55 yard FG today and so some of you don't want him. A 55 yard FG attempt? You guys got to be kidding. If it had been a 35 yarder, that would have been something different but it wasn't. Who do you think is better? Did't Vinetaria miss a FG against the Broncos yesterday. The whole Colts team/coaching staff didn't do their job and to hope their FG kicker could save them with that long a kick would have been a miracle and they ran out of miracles.

Even Billy Cundiff made a 56 yard FG.

i thought it was a 40-something yarder...but regardless, he's a step up over Cundiff/Cortez/Suisham, although the fact that he doesn't perform kickoffs scares me...
