I love Jerry but he should have no input on who the hired head coach will be other than working out the contract. I know it will not happen but this is the only way this franchise will ever move forward again.

Preachin to the quire there. Nobody mentioned Gruden so I guess nobody wants him. I would rather have him than Red.

Jerry looked pretty pissed today. I have not visited in awhile and I am sure this thread has been put through the ringer but humor me. Is Cowher or anybody of any caliber considered w/ JJ imposing his will? What young coach would anybody consider? and would you be pleased with Gruden? I really have no idea, we went the big name in Parcells and the little name with Georgia Techs coach (can't remember his name right now, trying to numb myself.

Until Jerry Jones dies...who coaches this team is a moot point. The one constant since Jimmy Johnson's influence faded from Dallas has been Jerry Jones...and until that part of the equation changes...nothing will.

I feel that Garrett has playcalled his way out of the "next head coach" honor. I think Jerry makes a splash.

I think Jerry sees the success that Payton is having in New Orleans.I also think Jerry sees the same potential in Garrett.

I think the wildcard in the decision will be Stephen Jones.Stephen may well be the deciding factor on which direction the club goes.I also think that some former/coaches will be asked for their opinions as well.

Something else to consider.We as fans don't know what goes on behind the scenes.Garrett may well be playing up to Jerry behind the curtain.Ofcoarse it could be the opposite as well.

Whoever we end up with as HC, they need to pick their own guys. If the new HC wants to run a damn 4-3, well, lets run a 4-3.

I think Garrett would be the leading candidate.

I think it'll be Garrett as HC.

I think it'll be Keith Butler as DC.

I think it'll be Ray Sherman as OC.

whose Keith Butler and whats his knowledge with the 3-4? I believe and hope its garrett for HC but my concern is a DC that can run the 3-4. I know Garrett liked Capers for that but since he's already a DC can we offer him the DC and also name him asst head coach to draw him away from GB or can GB knix that?

as I said in another thread....only half jokingly....if Red is as smart as everyone seems to think he is, and today didn't back that up: he'd want NO part of this dysfunctional mess. Maybe he walks next season. It's entirely possible after we go 8-8 or 9-7.

If Jason Garrett is the next Head Coach he may hire Al Groh as his Defensive Coordinator. 3-4 guy and Virginia ties to the other Garretts.

I want someone who has proven that they can get it done at this level. No more young experimental coaches like Garrett. Jerry needs to set his ego aside and do whats best for the franchise. My list starts with

Shannanhan
Gruden
Holmgreen
Cohwer

After that I'm not really sure. But I would look at offensive coodinators from the Saints Colts and Cardinals. However, this all starts and ends with Jerry giving up control. If he can't do that then it doesn't matter who he hires.

they're great coaches but man we need to stay away from the retreads and find the next Shanny, holmgren, belichek, etc. There's a lot of bright young asst coaches waiting for a chance that could be great and put there on stamp on this team and I really feel thats the way too go

According to NFL.com, Dom Capers is Special assistant/Secondary coach. Mike Trgovac is the defensive coordinator. If that's the case, then I think it would be a promotion.

Alright I will throw this out there as I take cover but what about Mike Tice? He was hardnosed but I guess the only nose that counts is Jerry's. We need somebody that will slap a helmet and tell them to get smart or at least try.
