We keep hearing the mantra that the defense is horrific because of injuries.
I am sorry, but that pig will not fly.
We had as many, if not more injuries last year on defense, and while last year's defense was bad, it was no where near this seasons record setting putrid unit.

So it falls to the coaching and or the move to the 4/3.

What I want to know was who's idea was it to move to the 4/3 and fire Rob Ryan and hire Kiffin ?

This decision has singlehandedly destoyed our season and made the Cowboys a joke around the NFL.

If this was Garrett's call, Jerry should show him the door after the season, period.

Of course if it was Jerry calling the shot, well we know he won't fire himself

Im glad your putting your foot down, boss.

This should solve everything.
Kiffin will probably be gone no matter what and Garrett will be here for atleast 2 more years.

Why do people keep saying the Cowboys are a joke? If they are, it's not a very funny joke. We're could still end up winning our conference.

As to the OP, I care less about accountability than I do about having a plan to legitimately fix the things that get us beat, but Jason Garrett should be held accountable for hiring the coordinator. I don't think it's particularly fair to blame anybody for the injury situation, but then, I'm not entirely sold that the injuries are the problem on defense. Ware and Carter took major steps backward. And we're limited in what we can do in coverage without Claiborne. Spencer was a huge loss. Other than that, we've lost some rotational players we were counting on. I think Ware's drop off is perhaps bigger than the other factors. The team should be expected to be able to overcome the loss of one significant DL starter.

No offense, but it's not like people at Valley Ranch are actually going to be in the know re: the future of the head coach. They're expressing their opinions, if those are indeed their opinions. I'd wager every one of them would acknowledge they're speculating more than leaking anything specific they've actually heard.

Really? Guess who said hes not getting fired?
Thats right, the guy that actually does the firing. Unless those media (lol media) guys aquired a few billion and are running something other than their mouth.... Youre not getting a new coach.

They all said Jerry was just doing that for support and was not a directive.........................Kinda like when he said he would never fire a coach midseason..................yea, that sure was gospel wasnt it.

Well perhaps, but if they're so "in the know", why did it take a month to find out they had extended Scandrick? I think a lot of it is speculation. Could happen. Probably should happen. But seeing as how the number of times you've asserted this has reached quadruple figures, I wonder if you're just trying, with everything you have, to will it to happen.

If you believe Broadus or any of those other fools over the guy that owns the team when it comes to these type of moves I dont think I can say much more to drive the point home. Im sure nothing would make you happier to see JG canned, but its HIGHLY unlikely. Id imagine he will be here for quite some time. Ignore it or embrace it... But it is what it is.

If we win the division, I agree its highly unlikely he is fired................................no division title and I think he is gone.

I guess we shall see in 3 weeks which one of us is right.

I'm steadily becoming of the mind that this team lacks anyone to cause the players to do what it takes to get the job done. Call it discipline, fear or whatever it takes to make them do what's necessary to win. We're seeing players like Church and Scandrick stepping up and trying to tell us that it's the players that need to get more serious about learning their assignments and getting mentally prepared. If that's truly the problem, changes are in order from the top on down to create a different atmosphere.

Garrett talks incessantly about changing the culture but nobody from Jerry on down seems to do what it takes to cause the fear factor that Jimmy Johnson used so well to make players do their jobs. Whatever it takes to get back to that should be implemented. Our players will continue to drag their feet as long as they're allowed to continue doing so. This team needs to toughen up. For all the talk about "changing the culture," isn't it about time to see players changing their ways? Perhaps so.

I agree. Hell, I don't even think Jerry knows if he would fire Garrett if we missed the playoffs at this point.

Yes. You must be right because we all know Jerry says what he means, just like he did with Wade.

Jerry Jones won't fire coach midseason

MINNEAPOLIS -- Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones admitted that his team's 1-4 start has drained his optimism, but he declared that Wade Phillips would remain the head coach for at least the rest of the season.

Jones addressed Phillips' job status without prompting in the Cowboys' locker room after Sunday's penalty-plagued 24-21 loss to theMinnesota Vikings at the Metrodome. He reminded reporters that he had never fired a coach in midseason and said that Phillips would not be the first.

FLIP: Jerry Jones won't fire midseason
FLOP: Jerry Jones fires midseason

Is he just clueless or playing the media game? IMO, at his extended age, he really is clueless in regards to Garrett...I wouldn't think any GM/Owner would fire a coach when they can still win the division, but I would HOPE that heads will roll regardless in some fashion once they have played their last game this season

The Tampa 2 that Kiffin is trying to run is obsolete in the modern NFL. The spread offense and these new freak athlete TE's are going to expose a soft zone every time. I also think its pretty apparent that the talent we relied upon on D isn't what we thought it was.

Our O coordinator also runs the most vanilla and conservative system in the NFL.

And our Head Coach seems to be content to just sit back with a goofy smile on his face and watch the ship sink around him.

Aaaannnnddd our GM has proven to be completely incompetent for 15 straight years.

Other than that things are just peachy :D

I feel the point I made is not really being addressed :
We did not have the right players for a 4/3 and we hired the wrong coach as well for the 4/3.
This single decision was the iceberg that sunk this season.
Whoever made that decision should be held accountable.
The injuries are just a smokescreen for his this horrendous decision.
We had worse injuries last year and the defense last year was not near as horiffic as this years.
We have set NFL records for giving up the most first downs in a game, number of 400 yards + passing by the opposing QB in a game, and I believe we are pace to set the NFL record for most yards given up a game.

If we had last years 3/4 defense, and Rob Ryan as DC,
I believe we would have won the KC game and Detroit game and be sitting pretty at 9 and 4 instead of 7 and 6,
hoping to sneak into the playoffs.

i think our defense would have been fine if our front 4 was ware rat hatch spencer, with serviceable rotational guys.
