get real. using your "not that much" numbers spread out over the campo lifespan....

5-11
5-11
5-11
-----
15-33
(0 playoff births)

vs
9-7
9-7
9-7
----
27-21
(1-3 playoff births?)

the only argument you can make is that 27-21 is insufficient, especially if we didn't win a title (next year we could be 9-7 and win a title) but of course you guys will complain like it's your birthright to take home a Lombardi each season so i take the 9-7 whining complaints with a grain of salt.

My point was Campo was 5-11 and not good enough to win the Super Bowl, and Parcells is 9-7 and not good enough to win the Super Bowl.

So in the big (Super Bowl) picture, not that different.

We're still sitting home watching the NFC title game and the Super Bowl.

Well, first off, I don't care 3 tiddly winks for what the Colts do.

But you make my point, ... how many Super Bowls do they have ? (But at least they challenged for the Super Bowl.)

We haven't even sniffed a meaningful playoff game.

If you haven't noticed, in Dallas, you either win the Super Bowl or fail trying.

Just so you understand, I like Parcells, I want him to win a Super Bowl here.

So even if he is closer than Campo (now there is a feather in his cap) we are still a long way from winning a Super Bowl, which was my point in the first place.

Disagree.

i don't think our chances of winning (or "challenging" for) a superbowl next year is improved with a some young/energetic coach (ie. Nick Saban, Jim Mora Jr, etc.) as opposed to Tuna. It's dependant only on guys doing what they're coached to do and unfortunately our guys don't do that.

Furthermore, it's laughable to read fans whine when our playoff loss was really dependant on things ANY playoff team would have lost with.
* dropped 1st down by TO early (then he disappears)
* Witten fumble after 20+ yard pass play killing momentum
* Glenn fumble, safety, 9-point play
* Romo dropped FG hold

What you're really festering about is the result of a long frustration since late 90s where Jerruh traded away two #1 that could be that "veteran" presence we lack today or that #1 Roy can't cover or that #1 Spears has been ho-hum, or that $25mil man can't catch balls, or stud kicker became a head case, etc.

With Jerruh making football calls we stand a great chance to revert back to 5-11 and sink below the Commanders.

Well, it's comforting to see the Parcells boot lickers express their innermost feelings.
And that is all well and fine, because, boys, dissent is a fine, fine thang.

Despite the misguided and ungainly metaphors used by our little girl Veruca (the paint sniffer and his yes men (man?), the point was, and I shall state it again:

(And If the opinion police will not interfere like Henry on a post pattern)

The Dallas Cowboys franchise is bigger than that mere speck of a has-been coach.
We have lost perspective when we pine for Parcells to stay, wondering what we can do to help him help usl Help us to achieve football supremacy. We've done almost as well with lessers like Gailey, Switzer and Campo.

This New York-loving passive aggressive egomaniac is nothing compared to the monolith that is the Dallas Cowboys. Nothing, I tell you! :)

Ferchristsakes, you go to any part of the world and people recognize the name The Dallas Cowboys. If you leave the confines of the NFL and fandom and the confines of New York/New Jersey, no one knows or cares about that speck named Bill Parcells.

Think about it: 4 crummy games over .500 in four years. That is not rebuilding. That is running in place. (Now, step away from the paint and go home to decorate your home in Parcells photos and, maybe, if you have the strength of conviction, his won-loss record. Go! And take your paint with you!! Vamoose! Gehen Sie, schnell! Ga, snel! Allez, rapidement!) :)

BTW: All this is in fun. If you like it, huzzah! If you don't, just remember this is the offseason and without discussion then what have we except being in suspese as to whether Parcells will stay or go. Tick-tock-tick-tock. Is he gone yet? Is he staying? Oh, my! The suspense! The drama! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

From the nerve center of Cowboy thought and analysis in Farmers Branch where a dollar goes a long way, the men wash their vehicles ever Saturday and our women are always wantin' to meet men.

Men, yes, another Parcells post.

It's my firm belief that most of his critics here could and would be patient with him. However . . .

. . . his hardheadedness, questionable coaching in the playoff, failure to rally his team in the last month of the season and his inability to lead a talent-laden team, make him lame and expendable. And there is the respect issue. An undiciplined team that is the Cowboys (penalties and miscues) does not speak well of the coach. And he seems to like to devalue his players. Few pats on the back, as if they are something that is wrong.

His supporters are right that we should have patience. That is only right, in most cases. But in this case, Parcells is not deserving, IMO, of a longer stay.

Parcells fails to get it: It is not that Parcells is a legend, it's that the Dallas Cowboys are the Rolls Royce of footballdom.
:starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin :starspin
He should coach like he is in awe of the Dallas franchise, not the other way around. And I think Jerry now has a harder and more pragmatic view of his savior BP.

Whether you big lugs debate it or not (and you will), the discussions should be framed on this: Does Parcells deserve to wear the star as coach of the most glamorous team on the planet?

(And do I believe Parcells will be back? Yes. Unfortunately, yes. And if so and the dye has been cast, then shame on both BP and Jerra for milking this of all its drama.)

(Cue in the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" here) Parcells, remember where you work and who you work for and be proud of it. Toss us a bone. Be just as proud of coaching Dallas as you are to be a former Giant and Jet, forchistsakes.

His truth is marching on.

Parcells has become a BIG BULLY. That's all there is to it.
The man is SICK I tell ya! Physically and mentally.

He hasn't been the same since his brother died last year...I believe he is OVER medicated. Poor guy, but he still stinks as a coach.

Dude, I never mentioned the Seattle playoff game, nor did I say whose fault it was, nor was I whining.

Stay focused here.

You have lost the point I was trying to make in the first place.

Please put me on ignore, what we have here is failure to communicate.

Motivated. Proactive. He lives and breathes football. For all of his shortcomings, he remains the best in the league.

For the record, Chan Gailey had more success in his first season as Cowboys coach than Parcells has had in 4 years...10-6 with a divisional title.

I was actually very impressed with our offense when Gailey was here.
The problem was Troy didn't like it. He spoke and people left. People forget that Troy help run this team toward the end. If we had the time to break it down, we'd probably find a lot of the problems we had in the late 90s were related to Troy (trading for Joey, preferring LeFluer over Gonzalez, kicking out coaches, and on and on). I love the guy and what he meant to this team, but hey I can't pretend not to remember he was rumored to be backstabbing and fighting with Gailey at the time.
