They are both getting 7M because they ARE the head coaches and even have some personnel decisions. Garrett is still an assistant and doesn't have any say in personnel decisions.
I think you misunderstand what I'm saying. I'm saying that JG would not necessarily stay with Dallas as an OC at $3M/yr if he can get a HC job with another team at $5M or more/yr.

IF Garrett left the short list would be:
Sherman
Billick
and possibly Dan Reeves.

BUT, Garrett hasn't even been asked to interview. He has previously turned down better jobs than what's available now.

Only way I see him leaving is if Fox leaves Carolina and Garrett goes to Carolina with Matt Moore and that running game.

Doesn't Billick want a HC position? He would only go OC if he thought the HC position was his after Wade left.

He won't get a shot at another job, given that he'll be coaching into February. Honestly there aren't that many jobs open this year.

I'm hoping the bolded turns out to be true.

That said, the 2nd part I'm not sure about. Del Rio or Fisher might leave for USC. I wouldnt think Garrett would want to go into the Jacksonville situation because of ownership and possibly moving etc etc, but Tennessee might be different. I dont think we have to worry about him going to Oakland if they fire Cable.

I still think there might be a surprise or two in terms of openings.

I want Danny White as our next OC.

Why?

He's never coached in the NFL at all has he?

IF we had an opening (and hopefully we dont) I definitely dont want an outside of the league experiment coming in to take over the offense.

Hey Dawgs, what do you think about Tech's new coach? Thumbs up or down for Tuberville?

I really don't think Garrett is going anywhere.

Actually, I think Jerry picks up next year's option on Wade -- no extension -- and then Garrett takes over after that. Just a gut feel.

Tuberville is a very good college coach. He won consistently in the SEC and beat his fiercest rival 6 yrs in a row. (Bama)

IIRC Tubberville was on Jimmy Johnson's staff in Miami in the 80's too.

Really, dbair? You want him to answer why he wants Danny Freakin' White to be our next OC? What are the chances this leads to a fruitful and interesting discussiion? I'll start the bidding at 'zero.'

Yep. Garrett knows he only has one more year to wait here and this job is his. He's got the talent he wants, we're still very young, his offensive system is already in place, he and his family (including his brother) get to stay in Dallas, and he'll get a good raise up from an already impressive 3 million. Who would *his* offensive coordinator be? How about his brother? He'd just need to find a good DC to pick up where Wade left off.

I'm thinking the same thing.
